Quad tips - Holy EXPENSIVE!

Soo... why the hell are quad tips so damn expensive???

I'm getting mostly in the range of $400 installed.... just to change some damn tips LOL, isn't that a bit crazy or am I just a cheapass.. seriously?

It's about 160 for the tips at Zoro... and then they said 200-250 labour to put them on, since they need to bend some piping to make the tips line up nicely with my quad diffuser. Dude quoted roughly $400 installed..... I went a while ago and was quoted $240 installed and they said that's a mistake and the price is $400 now.

Am I getting hit with the "bimmer tax"? I went to another place that deals with classic cars and they said about $200 labour if I bring my own tips, I guess that's not too bad?

I wouldn't generally complain about a couple hundred bucks, but when your exhaust is costing you as much as people spend modding their whole.... you know there's a problem.

you gotta pay to play....welding stuff is quite expensive....it costed my $320 in labour alone to get resonators/tips installed

They dont have base prices, they just decide what they are going to charge you on the spot, ive been quoted different prices on numerous occasions.

before i went to rmp for my perches, they quoted me $60 to install , the day i went to get them installed they said $220. 2 weeks later they were at $180.

ended up doing them at rmp for $120

Pay to play? LOL let's break down my exhaust expenses.

Current setup

Exhaust $1600
Resonators $120
Welding resonators $180
High Flow Race Cats $320
Welding Cats $180
Downpipes $835
Downpipe Install $200
Tips $400
New Chasis Brace to prevent Rattles $320
Total - $4155

Lost money on labour costs changing exhausts 10 times in the past 3 months not included.... Or the fact that I own multiple exhausts .... and multiple downpipes...

FML to the max.... I've paid enough to play... games over for me haha this car's going into storage and not coming out for 10 years.

Will possibly be parting out a lot of components of the car... gonna throw up some feelers right now.

Zoro is always a rip off.

And $400 to get tips installed is an even BIGGER rip off.

I thought we were talking about labour costs??

in that list you have about $560 for labour, which sounds about right since you did so much

Well it's mainly that I've put so much effort into making this car sound a certain way (as you may have noticed from my pm's) and the $400 on tips just tops it alllllllll off... and still it doesn't sound all that great. I just wish there was a simple solution where you buy one bolt on exhaust and be happy without all this custom work involved. Even after all this... the sound just doesn't cut it for me. Considering just going to Eisenman and dealing with the drone.

As for $560 in labour... you can double that if you include what I paid to change exhausts from my mechanic. Either way.... it's just a rant more about this cars exhaust vs. the money spent on it.

Anybody that has me knows for the past couple months I've been messaging everyone about making this cars exhaust note perfect.

I guess so...I think the PE is pretty perfect as it is...I've heard a car that has the PE and AR DPs and it sounds awesome, I thought thats the setup you have?

That really sounds a lot, most of those is you have a BMW so I'm sure you can afford it, watch try to go there with a Civic and most likely they will charge lower. Not saying its easy to do, but that is just ridiculous.

LOL @ $400...what a rip off

I've heard some people say they had good experiences from Noyz Boyz (in Scarborough), maybe you can get a quote from them. I am thinking of getting a quote from them for some custom work i want done on my exhaust.

Also, you might want to ask Mike@n54tuning where he got his quads done. Maybe he can give you a good link
