My N54 makes a loud humming noise when the steering wheel is turned all the way to the most right or left, every time. I never really noticed this before, and suspect that it might be a problem. Does anyone else experience this? Hope it isn't a big problem.

I get the same noise. I forgot exactly what it is but the mechanic I spoke with said it's not good to turn it that much so avoid it when its not necessary. Looking forward to anyone else's response aswell

mine does the same when its all the way turned to one side. not very loud so i think its normal.

it is perfectly normal. but try not to do it as you can damage your power steering pump if done ALOT.

Mine does this only when turned hard to the left. I only started to notice it after my downpipes were installed. I thought it had something to do with that, but haven't had time to investigate further.

Mine does it too, a very mild but weird feeling hum..i try to avoid it whenever necessary, but i dont think its irregular

It's normal.
Most every car on the planet that has power steering will make that noise to some degree. Some cars are actually ridiculously loud.

I did that a lot on a 2000 Civic Si, ended up needing new CV boot & wheel bearings.

Like trucks. My tundra's power steering is pretty loud.

I've had the same noise on two 335's. You aren't suppose to turn the wheel that far--it only makes noise at the extreme of each direction. Just back off a hair when you hear it and no foul done.
