Waxing?
I got a bag of BMW cleaning products when i got my car and have used most except the 'hard wax with nano technology'.
Up till now i've used 'showroom shine' as advertised on tacky TV shopping channel (dont ask!) but it does a good job after the car has been washed and dried and buffs soooo easy. I tend to wash car weekly except if its constantly wet then do every 2/3 weeks as it gets filthy after one run. My question is, how often should i wax the car with BMW's product and is it any any good? Is it a bitch to buff/get off? I use BMW's car shampoo to wash car which has no wax in it.

Just done a bit more research and the Autoglym products seem to be good. Super resin polish followed by extra gloss protection is what they recommend. Has anyone used the AG products?

Seconding the collinite. Brilliant wax, either the 416 or 915? I think it is. The 9 if you have dark paint. The 4 if you have light.

Upto you how you approach all this but I get the car professionally detailed along with paint correction, which obviously varies as to amounts of orange peel, surface scratches etc, etc.
Then I 'maintain' the look with snowfoaming, shampooing and waxing. I tend to wax every fortnight/three weeks. My detailer definitely found that swisswax went on really well and gave a very good finish on the Porsches I owned. We tried it on the S5, which has pretty hard paint too and found the swisswax to be agreeable again. Everyone has their favourite waxes, and for me it is swisswax, I've even applied it when you could argue it was too cold ie. about a month ago, but it buffed off just as it always does. Tip my detailer gave me for removing light surface scratches......use AG super resin polish, kind of proves it's mildy abrasive, so please be careful if you use that product. |

I can vouch for the collonite 915. I've used it on my white car and it is excellent.
But the first thing I'm going to do when my new car arrives is prep it and try out some Dodo Juice Supernatural Wax. |

Don't know about the Dodo supernatural but a definite for the Diamond White, lasts much longer than Collinite 476.
I also use Red Mist in between waxes. |

I use Dodo Juice Light Fantastic on my white M3 - superb stuff and the water really beads off it. Very easy to apply and buff off leaving no residue. Maintain the shine and water beading between waxes by using Meg's Quick Detailer spray after every wash. Removes all water/drying marks and is fantastic on glass also. It is VERY easy to apply and buff off, can do the whole car in just a few minutes.

Well i just bought some RaceGlaze shampoo, RaceGlaze pre-wax cleaner and RaceGlaze 55 wax from a local indepent car specialist in waxes etc and will see how it does once we finally get some better weather.
They said Dodo was good but steered me towards RaceGlaze.

Just an update, it took ages on a coldish but dry day yesterday to snow foam/2 bucket wash/dry/RaceGlaze pre wax/wax with the RaceGlaze 55 stuff but the results have been awesome.
I did one coat yesterday of wax and luckily we had no frost overnight so car was nice and dry this moring (and never used since wash) and gave it one more coat this morning. It looks like theres a sheet of glass over the entire car now and it went on and buffed off so easy. I should add that this wasn't on my 335d but on my 2 year old Silver C63 AMG but it really has brought the car up like new. It was always a clean car but after the waxing, the lines on the bodywork seem much more prominent. The car now looks FAR better than when purchased from the dealer. The wax was pricey at £60-ish a tub but it goes a long way and the tub should last for years. Very very impressed!

I thought clays were non-abrasive? You have to make sure you lubricate the surface though.
EDIT: I've got some of this stuff on the way http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/sealan.../prod_358.html As soon as we get a decent dry day I am going to give the car a good wash and seal. |

Great to hear your pleased with the results. If raceglaze does a quick detail spray use it as part of your normal wash routine at the end to assist drying or just after.
It will bring up the finish each time and prolong the effects of the wax. |

Not exactly true. AG Super Resin Polish has a very fine cut and is perfect to use prior to any wax or protectant. Its cut will not damage but enhance the shine as it cuts the light swirls and the fillers will cover over some of the deeper marks. Many on Detailing World swear by it and not many other AG products.

I've just got a whole bunch of stuff from Clean Your Car, including a a variety of CarLack products including the shampoo, sealant kit and glass sealant.
I'll be sure to let you know any of it is any good once we get some decent enough weather for me to give the car a good going over. |
