Falken Z-Rated Tires

Let me know if you guys have heard of these tires.

they are FALKEN Z-RATED TIRES

The size i am thinking about buying is

245/35/20
255/35/20

or would you recommend Toyo Proxies

Also the Wheels
Lenso Wheels LS31 20x9.5 inch

Do these fit on a 335xi Coupe.

I am new to this wheel shopping experience so all the help i can get is greatly appreciated.

I have a set of Falken Ziex ZE-512 in 245/45/17 on my 6.9L Mercedes and I love them, much better performance and ride than the Continentals I had on it before. Falkens really are quite good value too. But then again I've also driven on Toyo Proxes S/T's before and loved those too, turn-in was a bit on the soft side but either way... I would not hesitate to go for either brand.

What is the offset on those rims? 9.5 might be a bit much for the front.

Hmm...to get a 9.5" rim to clear properly on the front you'd probably want 30mm offset. But the usual thing to do is 8.5" in the front and 9.5 or 10" at the back. BUT seeing that you have an AWD car, staggered is not recommended. If I were you, I'd find something in the 8.5-9" range for width for all 4 corners, around a 35mm offset for 9", or 30ish for 8.5" with 245/30/20 tires.

If you haven't already noticed, we have a calculator here on the forum where you put in the oem values, followed by the aftermarket values and it will tell you how the spacing will be affected. Comes in very handy.

Are you dealing with a local shop in the GTA Gerco?

but i am unsure of the whole process, so i am trying to gain as much information as possible.

Do you know of a local shop that isn't too expensive?

Absolutely, there's a shop on Yonge between Elgin Mills and 19th, it's called Extreme Wheel & Tire and I've bought 3 sets of wheels from them in the past, going on my 4th set by March. If you search on this board you'll find praise from a few other members as well.

What they will do, after you decide on a wheel & tire, is bring in the rims and test fit them on your car to make certain that they will clear the brake calipers and sit properly.

The beauty of buying locally is that with something as expensive as a 20" rim, if something physically goes wrong such as the finish or it bends for example, they will take care of the warranty process. I can attest to this as one winter set which I bought from them turned out to have a bending problem as other customers indicated, so they got in touch with me and took them back for a full refund and dealt with the manufacturer themselves.

Just make sure to negotiate with them, the first price I can guarantee is going to be higher than expected. I would also call a local discount tire shop (Tire Depot, Steelcase) and get their pricing for the tires, that way you can tell Extreme what you can get it for so they will meet or beat the price. Also check the reviews and test scores on Tirerack.com to make sure you're not getting junk. Sometimes the cheaper stuff like Kumho are really quite good.

Oh, also compare pricing for the rims on 1010Tires.com and Tiretrends.com after Extreme has given you recommendations. I did this and they lowered their price for the whole packages incl. taxes by about $400 within 60 seconds to beat it.

The contact info is as follows:

Extreme Wheel & Tire
11300 Yonge Street, Unit #2
Richmond Hill

905-770-2302

Talk to either Mike or Greg, I most recently had a great experience dealing with Greg Kniff fyi.

Both Falkens and Toyos are very good tires.
