My dealership is fu*king with me!!

So I brought my car in for its 1-year oil change this morning to Rallye BMW in Westbury. I get the car back everything works fine and proceed to drive home. Later on I go to run some errands and when I go to turn the car on, I realize none of the electronics on my dash work and the cluster is frozen on random mph and rpm's. I have a gut feeling this has something to do with something they may have touched or reset while doing the oil change. The SA proceeds to tell me that he has never seen something like this before???? They tried to reset everything by disconnecting the battery but that failed to work. I'm going to be away this weekend so I took the car back for now. I'm going to go back on tuesday and leave it with them. Please tell me this has happened to someone else and that i'm not wrong.

Why do you think that your dealership is "screwing" with you? This doesn't appear to be a common problem.

I'd actually request that the dealership give you a loaner until they resolve the issue unless they can guarantee that this problem does not affect brakes, steering, airbags or other vital parts of your car.

You honestly think this is the first car they've ever encountered with this problem?

+1. Some people just need to calm down.

If no codes are being thrown use Chevron Techron fuel injector cleaner (concentrate). It solves rpm fluctuating upon cold start-up. Also, for most BMW problems start off by scanning your car with the Peake Research Tool. It contains the actual BMW codes. If you want to register a newly installed battery for free (just buy a $10 cable) and google/download BMWLogger

you need to relax...why do some people always just jump on and blame the dealer for EVERYTHING?

I don't like how they have no idea what could have caused it nor how long it can take to repair.

everyone jumps to blaming the dealership because most people on any forum just flame dealerships and call them stealerships and what not. what a bad rap the internet has made for dealerships...

For real. Stop stressing. I'd just take a loaner until they figure out what the hell is wrong with the car. It sucks to be without the car you're (presumably) making payments on, but look at it this way, at least you're keeping miles off your baby...

Something similar happened to my bro in laws bimmer. He went in for oil change... drove the car and before it was out of the dealership lot... car died lol. Dealership covered all repairs... it was some electrical issue... and his car was out of warranty.

You can make an arguement either way... but i dont think they did anything intentionally.
