Been Caught Speeding

Hello everyone,

So as the title, I've been caught speeding for the first time.

i was caught doing 35 in a 30. I was driving my mother in-laws car at the time.

With this being the first time i aint got a clue what happens ?

My mother in-law got the letter through the door this morning asking who was driving.

Im 22 and being driving 4 and a half years.

any ideas what might happen ?

One of two things given the margin - they might offer you a chance of a one-day driver awareness course in lieu of points otherwise it will be a fixed penalty, three points and £64 fine.

I think they will condemn you to hanging at Tower of London for such a huge speed.

i do hope its the course i get to go on then.

Im going to throw another spanner in the works actually as I've just remembered. Nearly a year ago i got letter through the door saying i was speeding but no action was took, its was only a warning, will this effect the outcome ?

I would have thought that would have been a warning too. Usually i think they allow a 10% discretion - it was only 2 mph more than this

I was clocked in May doing 42mph in a 30, ended up with 3 points and a £90 fine and was not offered a speed awareness course.

well this was my reply straight away, i was thinking she's old, it isn't going to harm her... but no was the answer, going to take like a man and cry haha....

I'm hoping they are going to offer me the course but with being young I'm thinking it could be just a straight 3 points

if we still had labour in power they might have thrown in 2 weeks in the bahamas! but with all the cuts itll more likely be a week in libya!

Both Northumbria police and Durham offer peed awareness courses. The limit for Durham is 37in a 30, not sure about northumbria, but I was caught doing 35 in 30 near fading tons BMW and was offered he course.

Erm yes, it would be quite an easy get-out if it wasn't.

hopefully this will be the outcome, just can't stop thinking of my age might change that outcome but we will see

Your age will have no effect it just depends whether to constabulary in question offeres courses - many don't.

Can't believe the M-i-L won't take the points.

I put my mum on my cars because it reduces the premium, but also because if it ever happens i'm gonna try give them to her: D (joke - she's actually got 6 points from bus lanes in London!)

You sure she wasn't doing burnouts in a bus lane?

Driving in a bus lane is a civil penalty and no points....

Ah maybe she was just shitting me then.....my mum is like that!

Must admit since she moved to London she does drive a lot more aggressively!! So it could have been exactly as you describe!
