E92 335 Factory Black Lower Grills w/Oil Cooler
FYI
For all of you who want factory black lower grills for your E92 335 with an oil cooler, I've found the correct part numbers to order. I have confirmed that the 335's with Active Cruise come with black lower grills and have the opening for the oil cooler (so no modification is necessary). However, since the active cruise has a unique middle lower grill, the best thing to do is order the following: (1) Lower right (passenger) grill part number 51117175312 (for 335 w/ active cruise and oil cooler) http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...05&hg=51&fg=15 (2) Lower middle grill part number 51117128234 (for 328) (3) Lower left (driver) grill part number 51117154719 (for 328) http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...05&hg=51&fg=15 The one odd thing is that BMW does not show a different part number for the active cruise cars on the left lower grill (that's why I ordered the 328 one). Tischer BMW confirmed this oddity too and were puzzled. Here's a picture from the back side showing the grills installed: Last edited by usc335; 01-31-2010 at 11:47 AM.. |

Got the info for the E90 LCI? This would save me some painting time. :P

I went by my local dealer today and tried to order a set of these using the part numbers. The driver side throw the parts guy for a loop and said he couldn't find the number. I will just order this from tischer since he was of no help.

I ordered and received all of the parts, so I can confirm they are correct. However, I haven't installed them yet because I'm going to remove my bumper when I install my AMS intercooler, but I have no doubt they will fit. Tischer was unsure as well before I ordered it (but now they know)!

in the picture above, it looks like the passenger side grill has some sort of solid piece covering the outtermost half of the opening. Is this supposed to be like this?
will this block air to the oil cooler? TIA |

^ no, driver side needs to have that spot blocked off, unless the bmw perf. power kit is used. It is the passenger side we need to be concerned with.

I ordered these pieces and they are all correct. I would prefer to have the driver side grille "fully open", is there another part # for the drivers side grille that isnt "blocked off"?

I also removed my front bumper when installing the new Grilles. So much easier when the bumper is off. I also took the time to compound and wax my bumper with everything removed. :-)
Im trying to find the part number for the Grille in the Performance Kit from BMW. I believe that it should be "open" to accomidate the additional water cooler. Can anyone verify this? |

Yea they still exist, but there is no longer a need to order their modified grille because bmw now offers one. The grille im talking about is the drivers side lower grille. They have a silver one that is fully open, but i havent been able to find one in black thats not partially blocked.
Does anyone have a list of all the parts included in the BMW performace kit? |

Sorry to bring to life a 2 year old thread. But I was wondering does every e92 have an oil cooler. I have a 2009 335i xDrive Coupe (e92) and I want to replace the lower oem grills with black ones. So do I need the oil cooler. I looked at teh current grills, the driver and passenger side look the same
Any input on this matter is greatly appreciated. I just want to make sure I buy the right parts Thanks

Anyone ever find an E92 driver's side lower grille in black that's not blocked off like the 328 grille?
I can find the center grille in black and the passenger side in black with the open design, but I can only find an open driver's side grille in gray. Last edited by terryd5150; 02-12-2017 at 08:31 PM.. |
