Can I use EDIABAS/INPA to program this battery?
Hi all,
I've been reading this thread: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=532315 ... but since I haven't yet ordered the cable/battery its very hard to follow along. I'm picking up a DCAN/OBDII cable to put a new battery in my 2008 335i, and want to make sure I can use it and the software that's out there to both program and register the battery. I was going to get this battery: http://www.walmart.com/ip/EverStart-...ttery/16782659 ... however it has different specs than the OEM battery (760 Cold Cranking Amps). The thread above (post 2) states the process is only for OEM batteries. What would I do differently? Is there a "how-to" for non OEM battery replacement? Thanks! Ben |

What you want to try and find is the reserve rating for the battery.
If this battery is the same one that is sold at autozone (just under a different label), then it is somewhere around 150. If you divide 150 by 2, and add 16 (a formula I found on e90post for converting reserve minutes to amp-hours), then you are left with 91Ah, which is closest to what your car is already coded to. |

Here is the autozone one, it's not the same as the CCA is different, it's got 790 CCA and 140 reserve for $164: http://www.autozone.com/autozone/par...3386_636952_0_ or Advanced with 765 CCA and 140 reserve for $166: http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/web...___#fragment-2 Thanks, Ben |

Open up Toolset 32 (located in EDIABAS/BIN folder):
1. Open MSD80.prg 2. Look up steuern_batterietausch_registri. (near bottom of job list) 3. Go to Jobs menu 4. Select Start Job Only Once Look in the Results window for the line JOB_STATUS = OKAY Can also perform in EasyDIS. After I completed Registration using Toolset 32, I verified with EasyDIS that Registration was completed. Also, if Toolset 32 comes up in German you can go to configuration tab, toolset, and select English. |
