Abusing a BMW

So heres the deal. I'm a teenager with a 330xi and I have a very very heavy foot. On an average ride around the block, i'll worm up my engine for about 4-5min and once optimum operating temperature has been achieved, i will frequently (maybe once every 5 min) use kick-down mode and shift at red line when on a straight away. The question i present to you today is a simple one. With BMW being the ultimate driving machine, is it "bad" for the engine to be pushed full-throttle on every drive? I have raced before in the past (circuits), but i am afraid that i could potentially f-up my awd system or engine due to my aggressive driving habits. Please respond on behalf of my car and my tendency to push the throttle. DO NOT jack this thread with responses regarding my age and my prowess behind the wheel.

The gas pedal will detect when you floor the pedal and instantly drop into the lowest possible gear possible.

OP, these cars are built for it, but just don't be surprised when things break, increased abuse/stress on the motor will cause things to break more frequently.

If you read up on the "metal-ticking noise" for the N52, BMW argues that it is caused by people NOT revving the engine high enough on a regular basis. So, arguably you're treating your engine better than most.

However, like kgb said, you might out some things a little quicker. Make sure you keep up with the maintenance and you should be good.

Probably not the best of ideas to do it as frequently as you do. I burnt out the AWD system on my X3 pretty quickly from goofing around like that when I was your age. That being said... have fun with it and don't get caught. If you're a teenager with a 330xi you or you're parents obviously have some money so you should be able to pay for what you break (assuming you are out of warranty).

I am only 6 months into the 4 year warranty that bmw included with my car. If anything "breaks" on the car i'll just have bmw fix it...its as simple as that. I have already received over 2k in replacement parts (due to rattles, exhaust, trim, engine noise) and i plan to abuse the S*** out of this 4 year plan.

Again, the reason why I slam on the gas quiet frequently and the reason why I purchased a bmw in the first place is because i regularly hear that these cars are made to be driven hard. Now, my question is how hard can these cars be driven without resulting premature wear and failures.

This is a very meaningful and important topic to all BMW members.

Quoted for BMWNA. Simple advice, do what you want with your car under warranty, but keep the bragging about warranty and car abuse offline. Thats the safest bet.

freedom of speech is perfectly legal and "under warranty" here in America. If BMW decides to void my warranty on behalf of the comments i have posted to this thread, BMW can expect to receive a fat missive with their enclosed court date in the mail.

You obviously don't know how warranties or litigation work. Have you read your fine print? I'm not trying to argue, I'm just saying BMW pays millions of dollars to lawyers who cover all their basis' whereas you're just a kid mistaking "freedom of speech" for "admission of responsibility for damages as a result of abuse" which is not covered under warranty.

To clarify, your saying that my posts on the e90 forums are somehow connected to my warranty. Interesting....then how would BMW know my true identity from the forums...I could be posing as some random individual who owns a black 2006 330xi. Or my computer may have been hacked by a car enthusiast who loves to visit the e90 forums. Basically, what i'm saying is that there is now way to definitively and accurately track an individual using computers and the web. Plus, BMW has committed so many unlawful acts in my presence that voiding my warranty would really not work in their favor.

I don't know why we have gotten so off topic but remember that BMW is the ultimate driving machine. With a name like that, full-throttle on occasion shouldn't hurt the slightest bit.

You couldn't be more incorrect in that regard.

I agree it should be able to handle it, but I was being earnest; it was a simple word of advice, keep your abuse stories offline. It has happened before, and cocky individuals have many a time found how powerless they are, both as customers and as wannabe lawyers. Remember that BMW is a business, a company, a corporation. And they are a pretty damn good one at that, which in 99.9% of the case means that they aren't gonna take shit from a teen year old who thinks he has a law degree. Namsayin?

All I can say is that everything we abuse will eventually break..
I guess just enjoy your vehicle while it's still under warranty.. And if it runs out of warranty in 4years time of abuse, I would assume that you would get rid of that..

To answer your question, your car will be fine as long as you let it warm up before getting on it. With that said, you won't be fine when you get a speeding ticket/at fault crash. If I was your father, that BMW would be gone so fast after the first ticket, replaced by a 10 year old Volvo wagon, or maybe a set of orthopedic walking shoes. Walking around town doesn't get as many high school bitches as driving a BMW.

1. I get more ass than a toilet seat thanks to my BMW. So your correct on that assumption.
2. I rarely go faster than 100...I like acceleration NOT top speed.
3. I'm actually a certified automotive technician.
4. I purchase the car with my own money...If your smart about it, your can make a shit load of money in the stock market. I started with 5k and worked my way up.

1. Girls are fucking you because of your BMW? Damn they must be some seriously classy ladies.
2. To each his own, all though I agree.
3. Well this sort of threw us for a curve ball. If your a trained technician then there would be no need in posting this thread.
4. Again I agree with you on this part.
