Another recall

Dealer called requires car back to perform airbag wiring check and yet another injector recode, anyone else having this work done or had it done ? What is involved ? requires car full day.

That would be the recall issued via VOSA then....

That looks like the one, dealer says inspection of where wires enter doors and a check at the air bag control module situated in the center console. Never owned a BMW that has had as many recalls, defects

If you look at the VOSA site and NHTA (The US equivalent). You'll see there aren't many official recalls. The VOSA ones are what BMW have issued as a safety recall.

Jap manufacturer's tend to go more for recalls. Honda and Toyota do a lot of them without even you knowing.

BMW and others will only do them if forced to do so for safety issues.

DVLA are meant to send out notices to you (if you have the right address on V5C!)

I think you mean NHTSA, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Its database shows a single recall for model years 2006-2008 on the BMW 3-series. This is for bolts on the suspension front control arm not being tightened correctly. It affects only 25 vehicles built between 30 June 2006 and 14 July 2006.

I had a letter from dealer, it said there is a the side impact sensors are wired round the wrong way and it could cause a delay in the side air bags.

Don't they mean, never mind we wired it up wrong and the airbags wont work !

Anyway they state the fix is to change the wiring at the control box, surely that is a fudge at they don't want to take the doors apart !!!!

I will post the letter details if anyone is interested

Is there a list of TSB's on E9X series so i can get a few more things done when mine goes in for surgery ?

Have you got your car booked in for rework ? I can see the point of going to the control module rather than the doors to cross polarity. Only problem is where is the control module and what does it take to get to that, my dealer says under the handbrake area, must be easier than stripping door panels.

Had mine updated not long ago due to High pressure fuel pump and injector change, no problems after. As well as the air bag wiring they also want to recode the new injectors.

E93 owners - VOSA recall on side airbag sensors

I apologise if this has been mentioned before, but if anyone has not had this done yet I would get it done asap - details from the VOSA web site:

http://www.vosa.gov.uk/vosa/apps/rec...freeText=Blank

"It has been identified that, the connections for the left and right hand door pressure sensors have been reversed at their connection with the airbag control unit. This would have the effect of delaying the detection of a side impact thus causing the airbag to be deployed too late. It should be noted that, the fault would not be indicted by the illumination of the airbag system warning lamp. "

Not quite sure what they mean by a 'delay'!!!

Mine is being done next thursday when it goes in for the roof shell trims. Annoying thing is, I had to phone the dealer! Surely they should be informing us! I know a few of had them done but it is important the rest of us gets it actioned asap as it appears BMW are not 100% on the ball!!

VOSA are meant to inform you rather than the dealer contact you.

Your letter from VOSA has probably been lost in the ether that is Royal Mail.
Or it's being delivered by TNT. Either way its probably lost somewhere.

I am only getting the airbags sorted out, I am not happy with the consistancy on the 320i modifications just yet I will wait until BMW actually stop trying things and come up with a fix that works all the time

I have had the injectors replaced and recoded, have been asked to have them recoded again along with the air bag wiring. The dealer contacted me direct no contact from agency, still not done due to work commitments.
Whats wrong with your roof trims ?
