Seems to be limited interest on a date, so I vote we do it Saturday 15. Have a lil drive a little lunch and go from there.
I Don't know the best route but 575/515 to Jasper gets you to the "good side" of 136. Head east on 136 to the top, make a left on Sunset Ridge/Burnt mtn. head north to 52. Hang a lft on 52 head west through Elijay and over Ft. Mountain to Chatsworth. Please throw some suggestions out, that's all I'm doing. I just want to get a date and time set so I can plan the rest of my month (work and play). Cheers... Todd

So, where are we meeting at? If it is ok with everybody, since we are taking 575/515, we can meet at Starbucks in Canton and head up to 575 from there? Let me know what you'll think.
Eric

Yep the Cobb tune should be a great option, especially if you don't live close to a place that can custom tune like Topspeed can. Also the Cobb tune would be relatively safe like a piggyback if you are still under warranty. My car was written up a while back for downpipes.
Back to the mountain drive topic, I work Saturdays or else I'd try to get out.

I may be going snowboarding that weekend, but I'm down otherwise. I've been itching for a good drive!

If anybody is interested, a friend of mine told me that on the 15th, there is a mountain drive up 400 with some Ferraris and Lambos. They are meeting at the Starbucks off Masell Rd. Same place where the Caffeine and Octane show is held at. Let me know what you all think.

I'm not going on the same rally as a car with 3 times the HP lmao I'm going to get left behind so fast.......
still sounds awesome ... I still fear for the well-being of my car if we go with them, but I still think it would be awesome if they let us tag along

I'm not sure how they would take to some lowly bimmers tagging along, and I have a feeling they will be heading up to Suches (cops galore). Like I said though, I'm up for anything.

That was just a suggestion. I'll be happy with just us driving up here.

A few days ago Intellicast.com was calling for "wintry mix" or flurries on the 15th, but it's changed today. I hope the winter weather doesn't mess with our drive...

Currently shows partly cloudy high of 44f, but that will probably change 5 times before Saturday!

So... what is everyone thinking?
We probably need to wait until at least Friday to see what thaws. But my concern is pushing it over a mountain only to find an icy patch around a shadowed apex. |

True, still a few more days before we need to decide. Hopefully if the road has enough daily traffic we won't need to worry about any residual snow/ice.

yeah...I'm a bit hesitant because of the combination of elevation and shade on the roads, but we shall see what happens over the next 48hrs

I've can see I-75 from my dorm window and I'm amazed how crappy it still is. Despite constant traffic during all this it's still a bit nasty, yet people seem to be moving pretty good. The side roads around here still look icy though.

So much for a sunny day to help melt things off. It is currently lightly snowing up here near Woodstock. But with schools closed and with with my wife having no plans of venturing out, the M3 is still in the garage and I took the Odyssey to the office.
