Yeah that 2% failure rate due to bad installations is killer. Sounds like almost every other product on the market.....

If what you are saying is true about cold air, then the GrupeM with cold ram air should be much faster at the track than a dual cone setup.

I have the UR intake and its one of the best mods I have done to my car. I love the sound, looks amazing, and makes more power through the whole RPM band. For the people who said DP. Yes that would make great power but im not going to take them off eveytime I need to take my car into service. No thank you.

+100

i will list my mods in order of performance and happiness with them (that is if i did have these mods to begin with):

JB2, UR catless dps, UR cai intake, RPI IC, forge DVs
note that i am quite happy with all my mods (guess that thorough investigation is worth it no?), the above is just my personal preference.

my 2 cents

do not want to argue with you, but no agreement here

not that familiar with the groupe M, but doesn't that intake start in the same place as the stock air inake system...if so, that may be the reason (possible restricted flow)...

although it does look real nice, not enough HP bang for the buck for me IMHO.

My understanding is there is no difference in performance with an SSTT, since you will only have 300whp. I don't think you need a CAI unless you do downpipes.

Does anyone have track data to support otherwise?

If you want a true CAI then get the UR it's worth it IMO.
+1 O-cha is on the money here. FYI..BMS and Logic are NOT CAIs, either is the dual cone. I have the UR CAI, for one I think cosmetically there is nothing comparable in my opinion. Performance wise my car has added pull, no doubt...also the sound of those turbos are pricesless. Install was very simple and the guys at UR are great to deal with.

You can make a dual cone for a bit less than the BMS, BMS is your next price point, then comes Logic, then the UR CAI. There are a few others but this is what you see most of in this forum. I was on the fence between the Logic and UR, I ended up with the UR.

What about the major support brace you removed to install it? Don't you think that is there for a reason?

good point...that may be the only slight negative re the UR cai.
BUT,
if you go to o-cha's older thread re the UR cai, not many people thought removing the brace was that big a deal....i did not either.

btw, IMHO if the OP goes for the UR cai, he will be a happy camper - unless he wants a stock quiet car, does NOT want to hear the turbos spool, or the "woosh" you get when you get off the gas.
my 2 cents

I agree, sounds great, great functionality. BUT, I just don't like the idea of removing that brace. Especially if you are planning to track the car. It doesn't look like a meaningless piece of metal. Looks pretty important to me.

One to his own!

Not really that much on turbo cars

The air is heated by the compression in the turbos and is cooled by running run through an intercooler anyways

It does look important. After all, it's not a little wimpy aluminum piece - it's a big heavy steel piece of structure. Of course, I have no intention of entering into the local SCCA races, and it's not positioned to help in a frontal impact, so it didn't stop me from installing the UR CAI.
