Potential TC Kline Coilovers group buy

Ok... Thanks to someone who puts in work and good contribution for our neglected and under represented little xi community... and seeing that you can find KW V1s and H&R coilovers for cheap enough right now anyways... I want to let yesterday's thread die off and make this thread specifically for those in the position to buy these sometime within the next week or two, or however long it would take to get 10 people on the list. I don't want to approach TC Kline until I have 10 people who won't flake. These normally cost $1795 and are by far the single best suspension option for our cars (I'd argue visually enhancing option too to close off the massive fender gap.

Here is a good review on these by Doyle:

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=583631

Here is a link to the product:

http://www.tcklineracing.com/webdocs...Details690.cfm

I hypothesize- if we get a respectable list of people together, we could get the price down to at least what some people have paid for KW V1s, or what we would normally pay for KW V1s if we waited until later in the year to do this. And for that same price, or potentially better if lots of us are wanting to and able to play, we can get a lot more for our money.

If your name is on the list and you no longer wish to participate, let me know. If I missed you and you want to participate, let me know. I'll leave this up for a few more days and contact TC Kline later in the week to give a little more time. This isn't limited to 10 people obviously, so the more people the merrier.

I'd definitely be down if we could get the price in the $1200 range.

I'm skeptical that TCK will be able to meet that price point. However, there may be an alternative.

TC sells a coil over conversion kit (aka sleeve kit). Now that koni sells xi front struts, TCK might be willing to assemble a package of standard koni yellows, sleeves, and their springs. Spring rates will be limited, but that will get you rebound and height adjustability, great quality, and a reasonable price.

I bet Erik or Harold @ HPA would know exactly what you're talking about if you called them.

Maybe a two-stage group buy? One for the full bore kit, and one for the sleeve kit?

$1200 is a far cry... for the full bore kit at least.

Realistically, I estimate them being willing to drop their price by $200 hopefully $250 on the full bore kit (putting it somewhere in the mid/high $15XX range)... this is all subject to their margins and willingness to do this, which will be based on the xi community's participation largely... All speculation.

If this generates enough attention and demand is shown we could do a stage one and a stage two group buy maybe. All depends on all of us.

I'd be happy to pay a bit lower than KW V1 prices for TC Klines...

Alright, I'll try, but I'm coming from stock dampers and H&R sport springs which are horrible. So....they're going to make a huge difference. Truly looking forward to it.

Do you run rft? If so that can lead to part of the horrible ride. Just asking because I want to purchase h+r sport springs and run them with the koni sports with adjustible rebound. I don't mind it riding a little firmer but not harsh.

Nope, I ditched those shortly after I installed the springs. Pretty sure the H&R paired with the Koni's will be fine. I just don't recommend running them on the stock dampers....depending on where you live and the condition of your roads.

Updated original post to reflect what I understand by the two threads to be those with interest and ability to participate in the potential group buy, provided I didn't misunderstand someone. Correct me if this is the case

Awesome way to take the initiative. I'm sure once akotten gets his on and posts the review more people will be interested.

Again, good job!

I'm hoping that he gets it up sooner than later to add people to the list to continue driving the cost down. Figured that now would be a good time with tax returns supplementing some people's income this month, winter is coming to a close and racing season is nigh...

Truth be told, from the 2012 mod plans thread, I thought it would be fun to see what we all want in common, organize ourselves a bit, buy high quality in bulk to save everyone a bit of cash, and put more players in the neglected xi game. Coilovers was my selfish first choice because thats what I want the most If this goes well, we could maybe poll around for another xi-specific modification that lots of people want, get a committed list of buyers, and all share good savings, good fun, and good progress as a community.

I hope to see lots out of the n54 this year, and especially from us xi guys. Truth be told, I plan on getting another xi after this one is beaten into the ground! Love my car already and it's far from "done"

I'm very interested and should have the funds, I guess my only concerns are being a susp. newb and being unsure if this fits my needs or is overkill. This is for my DD and i'd like to lower, better handling, flatten through the corner and reduce floaty feel etc. I have rad lots of good things of course which is why I registered an interest in the first place. Any opinions or encouragement welcome :-)

I should be putting them on the 3rd or 4th of March. Just waiting for spring break.

I think a new single turbo would complement these nicely too.
