Having come from the LS world, I've mostly heard good things about the on3 kits and the turbos they provide. Plus if the turbo does go, it's like $300 to replace it, are you really going to complain if it lasts a few years? That's cheaper than the rear tires I go through every 20k miles.

A blown turbo can lead to catastrophic failure. Ever seen a turbine explode?

And the chances of going 20k miles are much lower than it exploding.

Not sure why anyone would, unless we can just buy the manifold, and downpipe, It's overpriced for the crap turbo you get

I'm not defending cheap turbos, but how does that happen? All pieces should make it to the intercooler at most. Is it due to oil contamination or is this just speculation?

Lots of ways it can happen. Oil contamination, Oil leakage causing oil starvation, bits and pieces making their way through the system, bits and pieces causing havoc to exterior components...

There are thousands of horror stories all over the internet. Go to any Honda, Hyundai, Toyota, Subie... forum and you will find them.

Theres even more horror stories of cheap BOVs and Wastegates going and causing some severe damage as well. Better to not cheap out on the important parts.

I already have a PTE 6262SP from my old RSX. All I need is the kit, minus the turbo. What I'm curious about is tuning. I'm curious whether or not the MHD flash is capable of providing a good base tune before putting the car on the dyno

a base map should be fine from MHD if that's what you want to use as your starting point.

I am assuming your turbo has a t4\t3 connection? 0n3 use a vband connection so you might need new housing.

From the manifold, it is a T3. From the turbine, it is v-band.
