Does anyone know if BMW do such a thing as an end of warranty health check to see if there is anything needing done before the warranty runs out???? Mine is up in October.

Has anyone extended the warranty on a 335i, if so how much did it cost??

I think BMW offer an extended warranty. I wonder if a BMW warranty on a 3year + BMW is as comprehensive as the original warranty..?!

There are 3 levels of warranty and BMW should be in touch with details of what is on offer about 4 weeks before the warranty expires.

It's done over the internet now, with fixed pricing.

I paid £349 for 1 years 'comprehensive' cover on a 330i with £100 excess and no BMW emergency service cover.

I got my dealer to do the MOT a week or so before the warranty expired in case there were any problems.

Comprehensive cover seems to be about the same as the original manufacturers warranty.

Think I may go for it then. Will be worth it seeing as I am trying to sell it. £350 well spent to get some interest. Might have to reduce the price a wee bit more. Doesn't help when DIck Lovatt Bristol is taking up tenpages on pistonheads, hardly getting front page coverage!!!!!

I paid for another 12 months warranty today £439 to include roadside/home assistance.
Thought if I end up selling privately it should help

Whoo! £439 Have a look at Warranty Direct's policy or the new company that Quentin Wilson advertises before you part with your hard earned cash. Last time I checked, Warranty Direct was far better value for money than BMW

Warranty direct was significantly more expensive than BMW when I looked. You also need to check the labour rates that they assume as their initial quotes would not cover the cost of work done at BMW dealers - even if you select the main dealer option.

BMW's emergency service is VERY overpriced compared to AA or RAC cover. Deselect that when renewing the warranty and £350 for 12 months comprehensive cover starts to look much better.

Eh Finnie, hiyah mate - same issue with my car, book your MOT with your local $tealer & they will do the MOT (rip off price !) but if the car has any issues the warranty they will cover providing it is 3 years or under to sort !
After that, go for Warranty Direct for best deal, have used them twice before with no problem

Yup, claimed twice with no problems, 10% of parts & labour agreed up front otherwise they cheapskate you !!

You could pay monthly so the new owner simply takes over the payments. Not sure whether that's being a bit tight but worth consideration. I think the point that the car has had no break in warranty is more valid than whether it's been paid for for the remainder of the year (you do pay a small premium for monthly payments though; my annual premium rose my £34). I did this just in case I sold the car before the year was up.

I'm paying £32 p/m for the 330d. Fully comprehensive with £100xs (same as NFS) which comes with emergency breakdown cover (not the full home start, etc, features).

Thing is if I was buying a three year old car with a warranty then i would always want an OEM warranty. Fair enough if you buy it yourself but if I looked at a piston heads ad with a warranty direct warranty I'd probably think he wasn't taking proper care of his car No offense meant to anyone. A oem warranty will normally indicate a very caring owner.

It's now worse that i have found a great spec, well cared for and well priced Audi RS4 which will suit me well. Extended warranty and everything. Can't buy it though as cant risk putting a deposit on if I can't sell the 335i.

Very true, but you will need to accept that you pay a heavy premium for doing so.
The monthy option is good especially if you are going to sell again in the short term as it makes it an attactive option to a new purchaser that it's been continued & not given up.

I don't think this is true any more. I paid £349 for 12 months cover with BMW, but warranty direct are quoting over £500 for a 'franchised dealer' policy. According to the small print warranty direct would not cover idrive and despite the fact that their labour rates are for 'franchised dealers' they would be insufficient to allow me to get work done by BMW.

Plus of course the fact that the BMW warranty means I don't have to pay upfront, whereas the warranty direct one would require a retrospective claim, with notices needing to be given etc.

I bought my car last year with a 12 month AUC warranty. This is just about to end, and I've renewed with BMW. As of October 10th, I'll have the comprehensive warranty with breakdown and no excess. It's £87 a month, but I believe it's worth it should anything go wrong with the car. It's nearly 4 years old with 59k miles on the clock. It's not been to BMW for anything other than servicing so far, so something's bound to come up sooner or later! When I bought it last year, it had a new battery, new discs and pads and a new satnav lcd screen, so was nicely prepared for me.

In the past, the Warranty Direct warranties weren't worth the paper they were written on. Nowadays they're better, but still not as comprehensive and OEM warranty in my opinion. Any warranty is better than nothing at all, provided the cover is correct and the underwriters don't quibble and drag claims out over weeks and weeks. I've heard too many stories of this happening with non-OEM warranty's, so gave them a wide berth

I didn't find there to be a massive difference between BMW & WD's price. WD don't charge extra for paying monthly premiums but still didn't swing it for me.

I was just more comfortable sticking with BMW, where the car has always been looked after (apart from recent brakes & tyres). Not forgetting my car recently had a new clutch, gearbox & flywheel I wanted the paper trail to be continuous with the dealer.

It is easier to deal with the BMW warranty as the dealer handles everything and you don't have to pay for the claim upfront then 'try' to claim it back.

All pretty irrelevant as you're simply wanting the car to look attractive to a prospective new buyer and not judge the warranty as such.

I'd go down the monthly route personally with BMW.

My BMW warranty last until November then my Approved Used one takes over until August next year - comprehensive cover and I plan to extend it. 335d engine failure would cost about a billion quid to sort.

Had the Astra engine fail at 40k miles - swirl flaps broke. If it hadn't been under warranty it would have cost me a fortune. However I will never use anyone like Warranty Direct again - took out their cover on the Astra when it hit 3 years old and it's a total con with dire service.

I don't plan to spend much/any on mods but not cutting any corners on looking after the car.

I had a WD with the 320d - As soon as I said I'd had it remapped they wouldn't cover anything related to it (which could be nearly any problem on the car!!) - So I cancelled it.
