330xi cold air intake choices

Hi all,

New here, and finally thinking of doing some mods. I'd like an aFe cold air intake for my '06 330xi. However, when I went to their site, it said "not for xi." So my question. IF you have a 330xi, AND you have a cold air intake installed, which one did you install. AND was it made for the 330xi, or just the i?

Thanks bunches!

I'm curious to know what people say. I thought about it for my E90 as well and simply opted to keep my stock intake since the performance gains are negligible. For sound, I might try the golf tee mod. If I do end up wanting a new intake, I would probably save up for the BMW performance intake.

Since gains are negligible... you dont want an afe... yet you would spend double for a bmw performance intake? isnt that contradicting what you just said? Haha bmw one inst worth the money. go afe. you will love it. sounds reat and feels better when driving. some gains too. And it doesnt cost you an arm and a leg.

aFe uses a combo of aluminum and injection molded plastic for their intake systems. Typically the heatshield is aluminum and the pipe connections are injection molded plastic which is more precise as they are produced per model, not just a generic rubber hose.

I'm out of warranty now, so I don't have to worry about it anymore.

I kind of like the look of the BMW performance intake and the use of the original ducting. I could add some scoops behind the grill as well.

I have a Simota intake on my E46 and it's always bugged me that it rendered my ducting useless... it does sound very good though

Other than price, what is the advantage of aFe or K&N for an E90?
