Makkan, are you sure this is 1080p mode?

looks like 640x480

Dont need WiFi as wouldn't be able to read registration plate in the middle of the night when I'd need to.

There is a stamp on the left bottom side of the screen saying that its 1080P.
I have also confirmed that its 1080p.

I am hoping to pick up a Drift HD Ghost the weekend (just awaiting stock confirmation) I have got myself a cheap little bracket for the windscreen to see what happens. I said in an earlier post, I have gone for this as I will be using it as a full sports action cam as its designed, yet have it as a dash cam too, it only works when I press record, no fancy car based features.
I wonder if anyone has spotted a mirror mounting bracket I could get hold off and use? I have been through the thread and not spotted anything like that. Once I have it I will get a little footage up to (if i can work it all out) as it will be interesting to see how it stands up against the others on here.
Have to say the samples I see on here are good.

After several emails today, I will collect on Saturday and stick it in the car on Sunday on the trip back from London, so long as if I get footage up no one laughs as I will be in a hire car :s
I have not even got to the stage of looking what editing software to use, so need to do that next I guess

Sorry, you should not take it personal bud. I have more confidence on a forum member than any vendor and hence I asked you to put the videos up.

Thanks for the videos.

It is defo better than many other camera I have seen especially the night time video.

I hope DOD change the shape of their bulky cameras and add a parking recording feature (not the movement detection).

I have returned COWON and now looking to try Lukas as it has parking recording feature. I do not like the shape of it and no wi-fi, but there is no perfect camera out there with all the features.
Those which do, come with poor night time recording.

COWON camera is excellent and very user friendly, but night time video quality is very poor.

Ok I got my camera this weekend, I bought a suction cup mount which I have to say i have had more suction from a sweeping brush, ideal place to mount the camera without doubt is under the mirror for sure having tried different things today, yet no real footage to share as the mount don't stick, so to the drawing board I go and will be back when I have worked this out.

Moral hazard/makkan: thanks for keeping thread alive, its been helpful to read discusion.

Rudz: That almost seemed like the perfect cam! But i realised it doesn't have GPS. Just need to decide if its worth paying an extra £70 for a smaller footprint and wifi

everything but GPS, did some
reading, apparently the chipset can either support wifi or GPS but not both, people on the forums seemed to suggest that GPS data cannot be used in courts as it can be altered and that only RAW data is used?

U r right not worth spending an extra £80 for just a smaller footprint? Is the web page for the group buy out yet?

Yes i have the weblink. Do you want LS330W or LS430W? PM me.

Its only a fiver off their current pre order price. From what the guy at DOD said, the cams will go to RRP by Friday. So i might get mine this week.

I might just get the LS330W for £129 without the GPS attachment, it's a bit smaller than the LS430W which has in built GPS. Don't really need GPS but i could always buy the attachment later if i felt i wanted it = Smaller cam and faster GPS.

During my research I came across this. Lack of GPS and shape made it out of my list.
Though I liked the one central button approach.

My new dashcam arrived yesterday. This time I compromised on the shape and wi-fi but wanted something with decent video and parking recording.
So the camera is here and the results are
Night time video (change the resolution to 1080P)

Daytime video (change the resolution to 1080P)

Youtube has done something to these videos. Original videos are way much better.

I am yet to try parking mode.
But on the basis of video, it gets 9/10. I have deducted 1 as the shape is bit odd.

I've a DR32,which is great all rounder with fantastic day and nighttime footage.Doesnt come with GPS though. Not that I'm bothered as I tend to know where I am!
However...the new kid on the block seems to be the mini 0801.Great all round footage, tiny footprint, very easy to remove and has an internal power source,so you can take stills and view footage at the roadside(if need be). Also has optional GPS,1080p and is getting great results. The price is good too.

Thinking that this will be my next purchase!

Finally hardwired the camera and all the wires are hidden.
Here is the video taken in the parking mode. No lag detecting the movement and it records some video before the detection as well.

Don't forget to change the settings to 1080p.

Good stuff.Impact sensor mode in all of these cameras is very hit and miss. You would have to be lucky to capture anything worthwhile.
However,I like the idea of the motion detection mode on yours. What's the drain on your battery like in this mode or does your unit have an internal supply?
