What type of Battery charger?
I've had this OE tune sitting here for almost a month and I haven't gotten a moment to install it due to not having a Battery Charger for my car.
Suggestions are welcome, but I don't think I'm going to do the "Hook two cars together through jumper cables" route. |

Hmm, I'm not sure a 'battery charger' is what you need - what you want is to actually power the car's electronics, without the battery right? Something like an actual AC-DC power supply.

You need something to stablize the voltage of the car while it's DME is being read. WalMart has one for cheap and I don't have to wait. Well see.

For my AA tune I used one from pepboys. Make sure it has at least 10amps at 12v

that sounds right for a trickle charger. I used one of those for the read of my ecu and my battery was totally dead afterwards... like no lights or anything. So for when i got the tune back i made sure that i got one with higher amps. The one i got has a 2amp trickle charge setting, 10 for something like this im guessing, and 50 for jumping the car

The one posted sucks ass.
Get one from Walmart (schumacher) for less and it can deliver more than a weak 1.5 amps. The electronic ones have different settings for trickle, charge and jump start. |

I used the one posted when I flashed my ecu with the AA Tune. I had to upload twice because i accidentally uploaded the file for cars without a 3 stage IM. My battery was NOT dead or low at all once I finished.

I've heard some say they read the file off the car without a charger, and to write on the ECU takes about only 15 minutes...but I wouldn't chance it personally.

Your car will not be damaged if it dies during a read process. It is also unlikely it will die during the 15 minute write process. There are also recovery tools you can flash onto the car if it does so

Hey, good luck to you if you want to - but a member here did have a dead battery from the read process. My car is already loaded with the tune.
