Going lower on KW
So i had kw v1 installed on my 08 335xi coupe by my brother who happens to be a mechanic, but he says the back wont go lower then what they are now...he says the back is maxed out on the strut it must be a finger or 2 gap... i was tucking my back tire with oem struts and h&r spring so i dont know how this is possible
is this possible or were they installed wrong? got some photos of both passenger and driver side rears... anyone see anything wrong? Last edited by s3ries; 04-05-2017 at 10:20 AM.. |

Most people forget to remove the stock top mount when doing KW's. Or they install it upside down. Come to think of it, I've seen plenty of botched up installs with KW's. Take a pic but it's definitely wrong, my car was tucking in the rear on KW and I wasn't even slammed all the way down. |

AFAIK on KW V1s for 328xi/335xi - rear on max settings is already lower than sport suspension. On lowest settings - it will probably rub even stock tires lol
Something is wrong with install - sometimes people have perches upside down |

They are the same.
This ST Coilover install video which is the same as KW is as good as it gets for install instructions. Otherwise new KW's come with instructions, albeit a little broad it does mention key areas that most people botch up, most importantly the rear. |

Jeff, since no one answered my thread, can you help me out please: I want to go with KW V1s but I want to keep my 15mm/20mm spacers with 162 style 18' rims. I'm on pre-lci 328xi e90. So will tire rub the fenders when lowered, or e90 suspension geometry tucks in tire by default when suspension is lowered - kinda like negative camber? Right now my tires stick out 1/4 of an inch and if when lowered it will stay straight vertically it will touch fenders, but if it tucks in a bit - then it will clear fenders.

The top rear spring mount(black cup) has to be removed and that is where the coilover adjusters are installed to adjust the ride height.

Correct. The install is wrong. The top perch where the spring sits needs to be removed and install the adjustable spring collar. That's how you raise and lower the rears. Do a simple search on BMW rear coilovers kw and you'll see.
