Top Car Washes in North Shore Chicago area (Evanston area)

I just moved to northern Evanston, and had a hard time finding a great car wash like I had in downtown Boston (and I had to look hard there, too). I wanted to start a comprehensive thread, since there are just so many random little threads about this sensitive topic. There are also independent detailers on euroteknik.

If another member recommends a car wash or has experience, I can add them up and put their statement in quotes, since it is not my word.

North Shore Auto Detailing, Inc
598 Laurel Ave
Highland Park, IL 60035
847-432-0772
(Down the street from Lake Car Wash.)
This is my new favorite location for car washes, although it is a little further from my house. It is not a routine assembly-line wash; each car is washed separately. They seem to take great car of the cars, and the owner at the desk always takes a personal interest in things. It is usual high-end clientele, so BMWs (and their anal retentive owners) are at home here. Routine car wash is $20, and they do full details as well. They also do details for some of the local dealerships, which IMHO is always a good sign. They blow air out of the crevices with compressed air, which tremendously helps or eliminates rearview mirror and gas door drips.
- They have a small lounge so you can wait, although I usually run a block over to the Starbucks or Downtown Highland Park for a few minutes while they wash the car.
-I have been there for 5 washes, and am always very, very happy with the results. They have a 'frequent flier' card, and sometimes mail out coupons. I very highly recommend them.

Lucky's Hand Car Wash
8440 Niles Center Road
Skokie, IL 60077
847-982-9274
http://www.luckyscarwash.com/
- Excellent hand car wash. They run your car through the garage/wash, and you are able to observe your car through the whole process. The wash is really good, although some details might be overlooked when they are busy (some dirt remained on the door panels during my last wash). I felt reassured, as my car was right behind a new RS4 and Rolls-Royce. This is my regular car wash second to North Shore in Highland Park..
- Some members did not have good experiences

Lake Car Wash
1970 1st Street
Highland Park, IL 60035
847-432-1717
- Machine car wash, not hand or touchless. They do a very good job and wipe the car down at the end. Down the street from North Shore Auto Detailing in downtown Highland Park. A good review on yelp.com. I would return here if I liked machine car washes, although I was a little worried about the wheels fitting on the track easily (255 rears looked a little tight).

SUDS Hand Car Wash
2212 Green Bay Road
Evanston, IL 60202
847-424-0675
http://www.northshoreinsider.com/art...hand-wash.html
- no personal experience, no reviews seen

Natures Hand Car Wash
9003 Waukegan Road
Morton Grove, IL 60053
847-965-6550
http://www.natureshandcarwash.com/
- no personal experience, but there was an Lancer Evo owner who claimed that their car was damaged.

Auto Expo Detailing, Inc
411 E Park Ave
Libertyville, IL 60048
847-816-1255
www.autoexpodetailing.com
- No personal experience, but positive recommendation from another car owner.

Final Touch Auto Detailing
3084 Skokie Valley Road
Highland Park, IL 60035
847-433-1310
-no personal experience, no reviews seen

North Shore Auto Spa
2744 Skokie Valley Road
Highland Park, IL 60035
847-433-9274
- no personal experience, no reviews seen.

Crossroads Soft Cloth Car Wash & Detail
64 Skokie Valley Rd
Highland Park, IL 60035
847-831-1011
- no information, just saw some unfavorable general reviews online.

D & R Autoworks
2366 Skokie Valley Rd
Highland Park, IL 60035
847-433-4343
http://www.drautoworks.com
- no experience or reviews seen, although they list detailing in their list of services.

Americas Car wash
400 N Milwaukee Ave
Wheeling, IL‎
(847) 459-9896
"they do good work with the express details"

DeltaSonic Car Wash
1245 East Dundee Road
Palatine, IL 60067
847-705-9292
http://www.deltasoniccarwash.com/
- I would frequent this location when I would visit my parents in Arlington Heights. One of the best automated car washes I could ever imagine. Truly completely touchless, as they only use high-pressure jets in the car wash. The pricing cannot be beat, especially considering the free second wash. (touchless packages start at $8, with free car wash at 1, 5, or 14 days)

RyanDe680 and Mitchubishievo are on this forum and detail cars.

Aside from the Deltasonic car wash, most of the hand and machine washes are about $15-$20, and may include interior. If one of the locations has a price significantly higher or lower, then I will post it.

I also should not be violating any privacy issues, since all of the contact information provided here is acccessible on the internet. Feel free to chime in with experiences, or if I missed any locations. I will update this thread as I visit other locations, although I probably will not update with washes in Chicago (too many).

If anyone has frequented any of the other locations, let me know. I have to Lucky's several times now (about every other week) and get a great wash every time.

Thanks for the information! For that DeltaSonic Car Wash, does someone get into your car to drive it through the wash or are you able to drive it through yourself? And does anyone try to dry it afterwards?

been here too, its a hike but they do good work with the express details

I usually go to Platinum Car Wash on Waukegan Rd in Skokie, been going there for about 10 yrs now and never had a problem, always good service and a good wash/detail.

Turtle Wax Car Wash is good too, thats on Skokie Valley Rd in Skokie (probably pretty close to you) and they are good too. Plus you can go to Portillos next door and get an Italian Beef while you wait.

I'd stay away from Glenview Car Wash, they swirl the shit out of your paint from what I've heard.

the delta sonic in palatine is arguably the worst car wash ive ever visited...and their claims of "touchless" doesnt include the giant brushes that drag across your car (they dont spin)....avoid it like the plague unless you like soap streaks on your doors

I usued to go to the Delta Sonic on Dundee in Palatine and they were adequate, if you purchase the Super Kiss (touchless). The brushes that contact the car are just soft cloth, unless they have changed things since I used to live in IL....

its the same, but I think theyve changed the machine somehow because the drying/soap cycle is off timed, and I always am left with soap on my car somewhere. I swear the last time I left there the car actually looked dirtier than when it went in.

in buffalo grove on aptakisic and weiland, theres one called royal touch car wash, and although its not touchless, my paint is in fantastic shape (even with a light on it). I'll go there any day of the week
