Anyone off to F1 testing?

Fancy going to see F1 testing for a day at Silverstone?

£12

http://www.silverstone.co.uk/php/rm_f1test_june.html

As I'm not off to the race I was thinking about popping along to this.

I might go ... definitely intend to be at the race though.

I know loads of other people will be along dissing F1 as a boring procession, but I still want to watch it.

I thought the Australian GP was great viewing. Especially when Heikki Kovalainen momentarily nipped past the crafty spaniard.

I was looking at the race, but the prices are a bit steep - especially bearing in mind half the day will be spent in traffic jams trying to get to the circuit, I imagine. Would love to go, though.

For this test day, are you likely to see any cars? You're talking to the man who's been to Wimbledon centre court and seen not a single ball hit.

I think it's like the practice session, where you can pretty much wander around at will, so you are bound to see some of the cars and from a pretty close up perspective (more so than the race weekend I would think).

Lewis Hamilton wasn't there for testing last year though, although 22,000 people turned up to watch him

Accepting that you have first hand knowledge Carl, I thought that Hamilton actually comes across as a fairly level headed individual (was going to say young man but that just shows my age!). I have seen him in a couple of interviews, including TG, and I liked his modesty and refreshing openess about F1 life. I couldn't imagine Shumacher going on TG. I have an enormous respect for him, he is a hugely impressive driver, far better the Schuey at the same stage in his career, in a Jordan back in 92/93. he has the ability to become an all time great, if not the greatest. I just hope he keeps his feet on the ground.

I was thinking about taking my eldest - He'll only be 3 and a half but will probably enjoy it. There are no guarantees who will be testing but you will see cars on track!!

You can say what you like Calshumacoski. Who do you like in Formula 1? That Rosberg kid is pretty skillful but I like Sato for the danger factor as he is off his head.

It's OK if you don't like him, but I have to say I think he comes across as anything but arrogant.

I just read his book and I think he seems like a really decent lad, with his head screwed on and a Dad that would move heaven and earth for him.

I'm sure a lot of people who came across him within the Karting scene resented his sponsorship and his ability. Worth remembering though that he only got that sponsorship because he was a winner and because he KEPT winning.

The boy can drive.

Ill go into it in depth one day with you.. Not on here.

He is arrogant, i saw the him growing up. YOu not see him push the other two out the way with his elbows on the podium

Arrogant yes, give it another year, he will be propa ghetto like he used to be.

Oh dear.

Lewis comes across as a very media savvy, relaxed, articulate and successful individual. I think it is refreshing to see. He will be a sponsor magnet with the way he deports himself. Quite remarkable the way he has kept a level head. And he receives plaudits from the very best in the field.

Arrogant ?

No point seeing green cheese because in your perceived view of it Lewis' daddy put more money into karting than your daddy. Or he knew how to play all aspects of the game to win.

He's now racing at the absolute top, your not. FACT.

(Edited by Viv), this is nothing about me.

This kid aint creme da le creme, but has had millions plowed into him. THATS why he is good.

Hi s dad PUT Sod all into it. Good business man tho got some other **** to pay for it all. I could name ten drivers this second who whoopes his ass mate. But didnt have FULL funding like he did.

6 years from karting to f1 is a long time..

most drivers drivers took half the time he did.

What you have to remeber dave is, YOUKNOW **** ALL about him and his backgroudn

i was there and saw it all. END OF

Seeing someone, who was not the best in his game, now at the top of international motosport and doing well DILUTES WHO WHOLE ASPECT OF IT.

it really does. Seeing soem kid get his ass whooped day in day out in interational motosport only to be leading the world F1 championship today takes the piss a little, makes it all seem a little to much £££££ pays the way sorta thing, I dont expect YOU to understand it or even care. Keep on supporting the kid whose better than sliced bread mate (my arse)

just an example

raikonnen karting to f1 = 18 months
alonso 2 years
schu m 3 years
etc

hamilton 6 frickin years. and has the best car... with the money ploughed into that **** he was never going to fail.

You're not now. You sound twisted and bitter, all because he KNEW how to play to WIN at ALL ASPECTS ? That's part of the game. Nobody said it has to be fair.

Lewis is at the absolute top.

He makes more of a rounded complete package than you will ever have the wits to understand.

And keep a civil tongue in your head.
