Any bet's on what going to happen to my warranty? UPDATE
I was in a car accident about 5 weeks ago.
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=228505 A few weeks ago, I had told the owner of the shop that I would need to pull my ECU tune out of the car before he takes it to BMW for the final code inspection/air bag inspection. He said, "Sure good thing you told me." So I get a call today and the manager of the shop says "George [the owner] is out of town but I have good news. All of the body work is finished, your car looks flawless. IT's over at BMW now getting its final diagnostic scan." Fucking... awesome... So in my car right now is, JB3, O2 sims, catless downpipes, dci, RIX air vent boost gauge (still plugged in) and 100 octane sunoco gas, on Map 6. My next conversation with the dealer should be an interesting one. Any bets on what's going to happen? Last edited by JB335; 03-13-2009 at 09:11 PM.. |

jb3 should be invisible to a diagnostic scan, but I'm sure they'll notice the DP's.
no, they will not void your warranty however, if your turbos fail in a month, they will have every right to deny coverage of that specific part on account of your unauthorized modifications |

You're over-reacting.
Did the car sustain a frontal impact? If so, the only programming/diagnostics they're going to do is regarding the xenons functioning properly, airbag functionality and possibly alignment (unless the bodyshop took care of that). I expected the same thing you're feeling and it was a waste of time ..... the gauge is probably going to be something they admire for the idea behind it more than anything else. No worries. |

haha thanks Toad. To be honest, I'm not really worrying. Even if my warranty did somehow end up voided (which i know i cant be completely) I wouldn't lose sleep over it. But thanks for the words of encouragement
And DarkPhantom, I did ask him if I could remove it. It just so happens that the day the body shop finished the repairs, the owner, who i had spoken with, was out of town. An honest mistake I suppose. |

I apologize for highlighting this post but seriously, many need to come to grips with the fact that if they are adult enough to modify, they are adult enough to accept that they no longer have a warranty. This may be unpopular with the younger (and seemingly, juvenile) crowd. But if you alter the vehicle from the original specifications, why should you be entitled to warranty work? I would save the matter of HPFP failure, etc. as a real justification as if you are upfront and discuss changes and concerns they will most likely be handled. Edit: I did see the following so I can understand the OP's intentions: |

I am in, no way, refusing to accept responsibility if my warranty was voided. Still, this doesn't mean it's something I look forward to. Or something I am eager to accept.
There is no question of ethics involved. And besides, we are talking about a car here. Let's leave "ethics" on the back burner for real world issues, that actually require them. |

Any other problems found to exist that can be directly connected to that particular modification can/may/will justify warranty void to the effected parts. OP: I still wouldn't lose any sleep over this. All the same, you now know where you stand, right? |

However, modifying a vehicle and removing said modifications is a matter of ethics. You are intentionally attempting to deceive on potential causes of failures. |

Possibly because my original question was, "what do you guys think will happen to my warranty" and my personal ethics have been placed under your microscope. Or whatever scope it is you use

Scalbert, I have much respect for you, and follow all of your informative threads very closely. I've actually learned a lot from your research. Let's agree to disagree (if we even are disagreeing) and call a truce.
