335i and Run Flat Tyres
I am really keen on buying a 335i but the ride quality is putting me off. The suspension is so firm.
Would it be possible to swap the run flat tyres for non-run flat's (on a 19" wheel) ? What impact would this have on the ride quality ? Thanks. |

The truth is that run flat tyres makes the bampers work "harder" and you lose some of the comfortability of the Car.
On the other hand keeping in mind you have no spare tyres so the runflat gives you an extra security. Nevertheless ,if you decide to fit the 19" alloy wheels runflat will make your like difficult . Even though on 17" & 18" alloy wheels runflat cause you no problem... Well ,its up to you now.. |

Runflats on 18"
My 335i has runflats on 18" and i believe they are firm but compared to most performance cars in Australia they are fine.I ordered mine without a test drive and was a little concerned as i had heard a lot of stories on how hard they were.
Previous car was an Volvo S60R and the Bimmer is a lot smoother ride with little severe jaring on potholes. 19" i believe will be harder but suggest try them out first before spending big. |

Non run flat tires have an impact in performance. The rear may swing a lil bit more; some may say that that is technically irrelavant or impossible, and yet, that's what I found out after equiping my 530d with non RFT tires (having it equipped with RFT previously). I believe that the car iis made for RFT tires...! Also, perhaps the difference on the "outer strip" that is a characteristic of the RFT may cause that feeling.
my 2 cents! |

I ran my car on RFT for 3 weeks, then changed to regular tires. (19")
Its night and day, the RFT ruins the ride, stability, cornering, wet performance, noise, comfort, turn in precission, feel, everything is terrible with RFT. But then again Im not goin for second best. I advice everyone strongly to throw the RFTs and get real tires. PS. Theres a good reason why no M car has RFT! |
