Another Insurance Renewal thread
Just had my renewal from A Plan and it's exactly the same as last year, £725. If I remove the remap it drops all the way to £690!
Had a quick look on Confused and with the remap the best I can get is £778, if I remove the remap I'm looking at the grand total of £444 (£200 excess). All are fully comp, 20k miles with business use, protected no claims and the wheel mod declared. So, do I pay £300 extra and keep the Bluefin on the car or take it off and save some cash? No brainer for me. Superchips Bluefin coming up for sale in the classifieds section soon. |

A second hand bluefin is worthless as its now locked to your car. Its has to be sent away and reset which costs around 300 quid so may aswelk buy a new ine with warranty.
What engine do you have 2.5? |

Forgot that bit, it cost me £300ish to get it reset for the 325 as I'd had it on a previous car. It's the 3.0l.

Actually ring up, and try specialist insurers.
You're forgetting that you'll lose a fair bit of power as the remap gives it 330D remap power basically? Take it off and see what it's like. |

Or do you get a fresh quote and find it cheaper still?
I take no notice of renewals, they are usually inflated to take advantage of lazy people who just renew without getting quotes |

I changed companies once gain, real pain in the arse having to send NCB proof all the time, yet saves money. This year I am with Tesco, last year swiftcover, who knows next year. I shop until I drop for the best deal, its not just the cheapest, the the cheapest deal with the package and support I want

Yep, phone around a few places. I got my 335d with superchips remap for £350 this year. I was £600 last year. This year was with Direct Line too. Have a high excess mind you (£600), but so what? That only affects you if you claim.
