Okay seriously Coilover install price?
I have searched through a bunch of threads going back to 2007 and it is driving me crazy. I have a set of KW V1s that I am dying to get installed. There is one shop down here local that specializes in BMW but they want close to 450 just for the fronts and same if not more for the rear not including any alignment.
So I took to the streets and started searching. Looked at a decent supporter of this site as well not in GA and was quoted close to 1000 after alignment. How is this possible that everyone is saying 400 dollars for install price is high? Where in the world is this being offered and the work being done correctly? Any shops between GA and VA around I95? I am willing to take some of my vacation days to get this done but I am really not willing to spend 1000 bucks on install when the going rate seems that much lower. Any advice? I have no issue if that is the realstic cost of putting them on but most threads on this site are saying differently.

Same thing here in San Antonio. Those guys in California may suffer from high taxes and ridiculous gas prices, but when it comes to Bimmers and service/work....they have it made.
Around here, shops look at me like I'm stupid-drunk when I inquire about them doing work on my car.

wow, thats expensive!!!!
If you're willing to take vacation days, come up here and get it done at SupremePower. i had my KW done at SP! and I can assure you they dont charge you $450. Oh, and whoever shop told you that the install + realignment =$1000 is BSing. You're supposed to align after 2 weeks at least, for the coilovers to settle.. and my BMW dealer charges $159 for realignment and $140 from a local Bavarian shop.

My dealership charges $400 for an alignment. They are the biggest rip-off, taking advantage of customers because they can. They are the only gig in town, and they know it.

Even in philly, there are like 4 or 5 dealers within 50 mile radius and 2 within 10 miles of where I live! $400 is ripoff man!! isnt there some sort of standard pricing from BMWNA or something on a standard job like alignment? man, sucks for you.

Remember, you're talking about Texas....the truck capital of the world. Not many Bimmers on the roads here.

Don't you know anyone with a good set of tools? I have the bmw TIS and did all the work myself in a few hours. Just needed an impact to get the top nut off the struts, and rented some spring compressors from autozone for the front springs (don't need them for the rear).
I torqued everything down per spec, so I know it is done right. Doing it myself, I'd say anywhere around $250-$350 is a really good price. Anything over that is a rip off. |
