I have the same color combo and nothing looks better to me that black rims on a silver car. This will sound crazy to some but the idea of black rims on a car first caught hold of me as I watched Johnny Rutherford win the Indy 500 (1980?) in a screaming yellow Pennzoil/Chaparral with jet black rims. I must have been about about 12 or 13 at the time but the image stuck.

I have never liked blacked out rims...it need to have at least a polished or chrome lip.

Cop Magnet, agree.

Black wheels have been a trend for a few years at least. It was Black w/polished or chrome lips now it's moved on to all Black or different finishes of black.

My thoughts exactly, when I build a weekend warrior it will have matte black rims but for my daily ride I keep it classy.

I love the black on black look. My car is SBM, and I am in the market for new wheels. Showed a pic to the wife and she laughed- "it looks like the Batmobile". Went with silver.

I actually like some black rims on white cars...cool contrast. But the black on black stealth look never did it for me. I like the rims to "pop".

I had my black rims since birth.

I kid. I just think it's funny how some people like to think of themselves as original when they are buying consumer items. My sister is like that. She is convinced she is the reason why all the other girls started peircing their nose's and how when she first did, she was ridiculed for it, but now it's the "in" thing.

Whatever, get what you like. If you like black rims, then get black rims. If you don't like black rims then don't get black rims. If you're worried that it's a trend or are doing it or not doing it because of how you think it makes you look according to other people, then you're a tool.

i think the manufacturers have FINALLY caught up to the idea that tuning parts sell. So they copy whatever the kid in their marketing team thinks is hot. Today it's black rims, alcanatara interior and carbonfibre. Who knows what it is tomorrow.

I for one having seen a white M3 with bright RED rim thought it was absolutely stunning. I wish more people had combos like that, roads would just be a bit nicer to look at.

As for black rims, a much as I tried to be open minded about it, gunmetal is the darkest i think that looks good. Having said that, on red, black, silver cars, the black wheels can look pretty cool if done right (i.e. some OEM rims offered in black don't look good).

In my post I explained that I started liking them in 2002. Black wheels isn't a new thing. Toyota owners have been doing white and black wheels on 4x4 rigs for 30 years.

It's not like black wheels is some new Revelation, or that we are defending our taste in them by exclaiming we were the first. I simply stated that all of my cars except one for 8 years have had black wheels. When did anyone ever say that we were before the trend? I will still like black wheels even if every car on the road has them, because it isn't a status symbol, rather, it is my taste.

I'm not attacking you, but you drive a E90 MT6... Ok. A correct example: E90 335i 6MT ZSP.

Yup, most all the wheels offered for off road or crawling have black wheels.
