Black rims are today's trend?
I've seen in the Geneva auto show 85% of cars were having black rims (BMW, porsche, Mercedes ...) Also many were in black and white style (reminds me a member car I ve seen on the photo thread of forum). I think it's a new trend in sport car especially German and Japanese but not so on Us cars.
So do you expect changing your rims to black or gun metal color?

Ya black rims are popular right now. Chrome is outdated. Paint-matched rims are starting to become popular also.

US cars have caught on. There's a new Mustang commercial out with a Grey car driving around with Matte Black Wheels that look alot like the VMR V710.
I've had Matte Black with White Pin-Stripe on mine for sometime, but im trying to figure out something different to do to steer away from the "trend". Its getting too mainstream. |

I bet matte black wheels are popular for the reason that the brake dust on the wheel is not as evident.

black wheels look good but once the manufacturers start copping the style from the customizers then it's too blown up. off to whatever's next at that point

I agree with EZ_TUR90. "dark" rims I think are in style now. Doesn't have to be black, just dark in general.
But I DID the whole "black rims" look back in 2005. Crazy how it's still around. Chrome is corny and played out. Not chrome lips, I'm talking COMPLETELY chromed out rims. Like I see on every Dodge Charger... |

for me, i like cleaner looking cars and the all blacked out stealth look is too much for me, maybe for a full sports car, but i bought my car to look good, go decently fast and cruise. i'd rather get another car to toy around with and make it more aggressive

I'm not a fan of this. Especially on a black car. No contrast, you just see some sort of "black hole". Cars aren't stealth fighters.

It's the '80's and Knight Rider and monochromatic Pontiac Grand Am's all over again for me (or the hubcaps all fell off of a POS). In a little while, it will be out....then when it comes back again, anyone who remembers it from this time will think it looks outdated on the next go around.

Gloss black 193s Unless there is light shining on them or you are up close they are completely lost. Many hate it. I LOVE IT.
good thing about wheels is that they can very easily be changed should you have a change in mind or style. |

I had black CSLs on my JB e92 with all trim and reflectors blacked out. It looked gangster, but there was no contrast. It looked too monotone. Switched up to some hypersilver 111s and IMO it looks 100% better. I am personally over black wheels.
