How do yo guys clean your BMS air intake?

I just bought a used BMS air intake for my 335i, but its really dirty. Is it safe to use water and car wash soap to clean it?

you can buy a K&N recharge kit and use it as per the instructions if I am not mistaken. I bought mine not too long ago so I havent had to clean them yet but i've cleaned several filters on my other cars with the K&N kit.

I use the kit. Spray on, leave for 10min rinse off, let dry. Reinstall. Doesn't have to be 1000% dry. I leave it to dry over night and install in am. Usually like a Friday to sat. Or sat to sun.
