ONE thing the new nav is worse at than the old one...
One thing I loved about my 2007 nav vs. the independent GPS devices is that it doesn't constantly tell you "Stay on the highway" at each exit. (That should be obvious - nothing for the nav to say there.)
But I recently had a 2011 loaner, and the nav DOES do that stupid thing at almost every exit: "bear left" or whatever... So... despite all the massive improvements they've made to the nav, those of us with the old nav can take solace in this one thing that's worse now. Did I miss something or is that really how it is? |

is that 'cause you're in the right lane? doesn't the new nav have lane assist?

I have an 08 e92 with nav and it does the same thing. Even in the far left lane it tells me to bear left at every exit. It happened with the 2010 nav dvd and the new 2011 one.

I always keep the voice off. I find it very annoying, each time cutting the music and repeating itself. I just set the screen with the map on the left and arrow display on the right.

Are you saying the nav essentially reminds you to stay on the highway every time you come to an exit? I've had nav in 4 BMWs since model year 2007 and never had it do this. I've inadvertently left the "avoid highway" function on and had it telling me to get off at every exit but, not to stay on the highway.

ok, maybe not every exit, but at every highway interchange it will. "in one quarter of a mile, bear left, then bear left."

On my old E60, I'd shut that Nav lady up and just use the HUD (screen is too distracting for me) |
