cool your not worried about long term? and do you have an oil cooler or intercooler? is it bad to have the jb3 without those mods?

I have the stock sport oil cooler. I have a Helix intercooler, though its not installed yet.

Just run the appropriate map for the mods and gas you have. Any tune is going to decrease the life of the motor. Dinan, jb, vishnu, etc. When the turbo's are spinning faster and the horsepower is increased by 30% the mechanics of the car will be working harder.

Some people have 50k tuned miles with no problem. 99% of us have not featured any type of engine failure, regardless of the tune. Being a semi new production car, there aren't many, if any, tuned 335i's running around with 100k+ miles.

ye for sure its just dinan only boosts 13 psi and they require an oil cooler to provide their warranty at that and when they boost any higher they requier and intercooler as well as an oil cooler i figured there must be a reason for that you know i dont have either i dont think and am a little worried about adding the jb3 what you think

Well the JB3 has different maps. Ranging from 1-9. 1 being 11-13psi and 9 being 15-17 psi. Each map requires certain modifications, just like the Dinan tune. So if you choose the appropriate map for your car and modifications, you are essentially given the same protection as the Dinan tune.

Map 0:
-- Disables JB3, all signals pass through

Map 1:
-- Low boost map, boost levels of 11-13psi depending on mods and weather
-- Self adapts to modifications like intake, downpipes, exhaust, etc
-- 91 octane RM2 or higher required. The higher the octane, the more power.

Map 2:
-- Performance map, boost levels of 12-14psi depending on mods and weather
-- Self adapts to modifications like intake, downpipes, exhaust, etc
-- 91 octane RM2 or greater required. The higher the octane, the more power.

Map 3:
-- Identical to map 2 with additional low end response (aka lagfix)

Map 4:
-- Hotter Performance map, boost levels of 13-15psi depending on mods
and weather
-- Self adapts to modifications like intake, downpipes, exhaust, etc
-- 93 octane RM2 or greater required. The higher the octane, the more power.

Map 5:
-- Identical to map 4 with additional low end response (aka lagfix)

Map 6:
-- Designed to optimize bolt on performance
-- 93 octane RM2 or greater required. The higher the octane, the more power.
-- Richer midrange air/fuel ratios to sustain additional torque
-- May trigger hidden tuner detection codes. Purchase a Bavarian
Technic cable from BMS to scan for and delete any hidden codes before service.

Map 7:
-- Identical to map 6 with additional low end response (aka lagfix)

Map 8:
-- Race map
-- 97 octane RM2 or greater required. The higher the octane, the more power.
-- Modifications like intake, downpipes, and intercooler strongly suggested
-- Lagfix enabled
-- May trigger tuner detection codes

Map 9:
-- More aggressive race map
-- 100 octane RM2 or greater required. The higher the octane, the more power.
-- Intake, downpipes, and intercooler required
-- Lagfix enabled
-- May trigger tuner detection codes

I was in a car accident and the bodyshop took my car to the dealer for it's final diagnostics scan. Even though I requested I get a hold of the car before they send it in, they mistakenly took it anyway.

The dealership had my car with the JB3, Rix gauge, intake, and downpipes. They didnt say a word. They said, it runs great, and they loved the integrated boost gauge.

so, so far I've been lucky. However, now that I have a catless exhaust with the catless downpipes, I think they may not be so lenient. We'll see. :knocks on wood:
