Hey Steve, I ccalled the 1800 # today and the car is the car is being transported to the port of exit.

Then I checked with the salesman at work and its arrived at the port

So i think there is a chance ill be on the same ship as you!

I've been waiting at the PORT for about a day and a half now... Hope to be on the vessel w/ you and everyone else!! Why did they change it to Tuesday?

Shipping schedules are best estimates. Sea conditions, equipment problems, etc., are all factors that decide when a ship will arrive at it's destination. I did notice that the only date they changed for now was the date it departs from Bremerhaven. All the other dates were the same but I'm sure they are subject to change.

I am very surprised at how quick the process has been to this point. It has only been a couple weeks since I placed my order. Dealer said I must have gotten bumped up in production. The car I am waiting for seems to be a rare combo. 335i sedan with montego blue exterior, terra leather, and alum. trim. I'm anxious to see it in person. I have only found a couple people on here with the same int/ext combo. I was lucky enough to get a couple photos. Of course I did check out the int/ext colors in person just not together. Thanks steve for the informative post. I will be checking here for my transit info.

Don't want to burst your bubble but if your status just changed to "in transit", you're only on your way to the port. The 800# will tell you if you have arrived at the port This happened to me last week and I missed the ship I was hoping to obtain passage on. There is some delay from the time you arrive at the port till you actually get on line to await boarding. The cars need to be prepped for transit with Cosmoline, shipping blocks for the suspension, etc.
Unfortunately, until our status changes to "en route", we won't know which ship we're on for sure.
The suspense is killing me!

Yesterday,The Liberty arrived at her berth in Bremerhaven and will be unloading all those X5's and Z4's she brought across the Atlantic from Charleston, SC. After all cargo has been offloaded, the crew will take a short break, sample some of the beers that Germany has to offer and begin driving our cars up the ramps onto the ship. Wait a minute, I don't want some drunken sailor driving my new baby. I will be contacting port officials immediately and have them administer breathalyzer tests to anyone who touches our cars.
Since her scheduled departure date was changed to Tuesday, 3/13, the next day or so will be like sitting on pins and needles waiting for the Liberty to shove off. As soon as I see her leave her berth, I'll post it here and we can start calling our CA's to get shipping confirmations.

no, I haven't spoke with the dealer yet, just guessing that since my status changed to en route on the same day the liberty was supposed to sail that I may be on it. I guess I could be on another ship. I'm not sure at this point but I'll settle for being towed by a bass boat at this point. Can't wait....

In these last few hours before we (hopefully) leave the dock, here's a little reading material that describes how our cars are stored before they get loaded onto the ship:

Parking deck for 6,600 vehicles inaugurated



Michael Bomann, head of vehicle distribution logistics of the BMW Group, and Bernd Kupke, Managing Director of BLG LOGISTICS AUTOMOBILE, jointly cut the symbolic ribbon and thus officially opened operation of the new parking deck at the Auto Terminal Bremerhaven.

Construction work on the 248-meter-long and 103-meter-wide facility lasted just under a year. On six levels it provides covered space for 6,600 vehicles until they are loaded onto the large car carriers. The new parking deck will be used exclusively for export vehicles of the BMW Group.

In addition, a double-level unloading station was built with 4 sets of tracks, each having a length of 700 m. The electric vertical adjustment of the ramps enables optimal docking of the automobile trains. The investment volume totaled around 18 million euros.

Covered, weather-protected storage of the high-quality new vehicles until departure of the vessel, along with transport in closed railway cars, is an essential element of the BMW Group strategy involving shipment of new vehicles from the plant without outer skin protection in future.

BMW relies on Bremerhaven both for exports to North America and Asia and for imports of Z4 and X5 models produced in the USA. According to expectations, a total of 370,000 vehicles of the BMW brand will be handled via the BLG Auto Terminal this year. This means the BMW Group is one of the key clients in Bremerhaven.

The total cargo handling volume of the Auto Terminal will increase to around 1.8 million vehicles by the end of the year, corresponding to a two-digit growth rate as compared to 2005.
