335i - New personal MPG record
Now I'm not normally @rsed about MPG, but after a recent run from Bridgewater to Wrexham I recorded this (backed up within 0.15mpg after a fill to fill)
But what amazes me more was the fact that I avoided ALL motorways, so all my driving was A and B roads. I also like to drive my car, so I wasn't tickling it. It should be noted that I have the following mods - Procede ecu - running 14 psi map AFE S2 filters Catless DP's For me, I am amazed by this. A 3.0L car producing ~400bhp and capable of returning 36 mpg. Wow is all I can say, I love this car more and more each day Oh and before anyone says that I'm out of fuel, I'm not, I run the fuel guage as a boost guage. The range tells me what fuel I have left

That is pretty good for an auto! One trip is easy - I've seen 42mpg on a particularly economical run.. Brim to Brim is the real test, I've had 500 miles from a tank averaging 37mpg ish!!

I have had mine say 40.3mpg over 100 miles and an indicated 630 miles from the tank. It was not the most interesting 100 miles though.
Cruise control at 65mph up the M1 without touching anything but the steering wheel. |

Wow, good work lads!
As I said, I wasn't even trying for any figures, just when I scrolled through the display I was pleasantly surprised. My old Evo 8 had 430bhp and one the one occasion I could be bothered checking I averaged about 23mpg. Andy

I'm disappointed. I was expecting the MPG record to be LOW records, not high...
Saying that, it's a seriously impressive feat to manage that sort of mpg from a car also capable of such devastating performance. |

On a similar run before I got the procede I only averaged about 30-31mpg. The procede has helped increase mpg aswell as increase performance. And no, I didn't dspend the whole journey with my foot welded to the floor, but believe me, at every safe opportunity I was on double kickdown Can't recommend the Procede highly enough. Andy

I had a 335d tuned.... That should be better than yours on juice. to get 36mpg It would have been painful.... If I 'Drove' it down some lanes I GOT 18mpg, No chance were you giving it ANY, maybe compared to your usual slow driving style LOL... But no chance you gave it any REAL stick and get 36mpg...UNLESS it was already high for months and months and you never re-set it to go down these lanes and it would drop a few.

I live in the real world.
It would have been impossible to drive it 'like I stole it' for 143 miles, but driving enthusiastically, certainly. If you actually take time to look at how you drive on A and B roads, you'll realise how much time you spend off throttle (coasting up to slower moving vehicles, etc.). I'm sure, if I were to 'drive it down some lanes' for maybe a few miles, then I'm sure the figure would be very different. Your only jealous because your M3 is slower and heavier on juice!

Far from Jealous mate, I had a 335 nAndover 2007 and it couldn't touch a E46 for handling. I was at the pod at the weekend and ran quicker than chipped 135&335i's LOL. + I did want a 35i till I realised how unreliable they have been in the 5.5years I've been on this forum.
Top that I can achieve 37+mpg in the M3 ( I had to, had no fuel so babied it like you do but to the petrol station) I bought the car to enjoy it. I couldn't give a flying F for MPG.

I too am in the fortunate position not to care to much about the mpg, but the whole reason for posting this was more to sing the car and brand praises. I think for the money and power not many other cars out there are capable of this achivement. Be sure to let me know if your at Pod anytime soon, I have been a bit of a regular there for over 15 years. Don't mind a bit of heads up action That is, if my unnreliable 335i will even get me there Andy

Should a remapped 335i not be aiming to get into the 12s at 110mph+?
It would be possible for me to do that consumption on anything other than a motorway cruise. |

A 400HP one traps close to 110mph. Driver makes a massive difference. But purely a remapped 335i completely standard otherwise will do a low 13 at 105+ with a good driver. But it was a slow day mate, I should have done a 13.1 with the 60ft I did. But the wind was a problem, as well as the heat,

I dont wanna fall out crane boy. The 335i is amazing in what it does. The reason the mpg was so good was because it was over a 140 mile journey without resetting. I didn't read that part. Sorry.

Doesn't a remap from any of the reliable companies or JB4 not see 380bhp consistently?
Reading through this site and others there is quite a few guys claiming 12s with remap and occasionally down pipes. Isn't there a 135i mid 12s from a remapped N55. Vtecabuser I think? |
