Little spots (rust?) all over AW e92
Hello! First post here. I recently got a new baby 2009 335xi coupe in Alpine White (absolutely love it). From your everyday view of the car it looks beautiful however while debadging the 335i and xdrive badges I noticed there are little tiny rust colored specs around most parts of the car. They are very very small but when close enough it's quite unpleasing to the eye. I tried to search for people with similar cases and from what I could find it seems people suggest claybar to get rid of them? Just wanted to make sure that is correct. Is this a known issue and will the claybar and fresh coat of wax take care of it? I think it might be due to being in Germany there arent many places to park under cover so cars are exposed to the elements very frequently. If this seems very odd I can take pictures for you all to see what I'm talking about. Any help appreciated Thanks!

I had a white Lexus IS 300 and I had to remove the little dots of rust each spring with a clay bar. Once you get all of them off use a cleaner wax when you start to see them form again.

The CarPro Iron X Iron Remover is a faster way to remove brake dust deposits and other build ups on the surface. I absolutely love this product and highly recommend it!
After that you can also use a clay bar (i.e. DI Accessories Gentle Fine Grade Clay)or the NanoSkin AutoScrub Fine Foam Pad for a more thorough cleaning afterward. We offer 10% off at www.DetailedImage.com if interested with the coupon code e90post. Let me know if you have any other questions and I'll be happy to help. Greg @ DI |

Dude, trust me on this. Use Sonax or Iron-X to do the bulk of the work before you go at it with a clay bar. Clay bar alone will take hours of work to get those little bastard deposits off. Cheap investment to save lots of labor.

The deposits that I am talking about are metallic, and concentrated on the sides and rear of the vehicle. Definitely brake dust.

I've never personally used Zaino, but I've heard pretty good things about it. I do know it can be a bit pricey though. I've just started using Blackfire Wet Diamond and it's great. It's a sealant, and although I can't attest to its longevity, it's supposed to protect your car for a minimum of 6 months. It's really easy to apply and left the finish feeling smooth and slick when I was done. I used it on both mine and my wifes cars and it'll be my "go to" paint protection from now on.
