Anyway, its a load of shit. Holding the pedal down only gets the water pump going. It is part of the vent procedure after a coolant change. That is what people are hearing. Take the cap off the coolant tank and see for yourself after you hold the pedal down. (make sure engine is not hot). |

There is a tranny reset in INPA, I used it, did nothing that couldn't be mistaken for placebo. I have the "impression" that shifting points are now closer in D, which is what I like, but not sure.
Since it is an INPA option, it did something, but it was inconclusive, so I bet that even if the pedal thing works, it's not gonna be night and day for most. |

I asked my dealer to do if for me as it seemed my tranny wasn't kicking down soon enough. They reset it for free.

There is a few reset options in the BT cable software for tranny reset.

This has nothing to do with resetting the tranny. This procedure "supposedly" resets the throttle by wire adaptation. I have tried this and it works! I do this about once a month or so. If you drive in a lot of stop or go traffic you'll notice when blipping the throttle, the rpms climb at very lazy pace. After the reset, the revs climb less restricted for lack of better terms. I notice a difference. This does not give you more horsepower, change your gearing or even the speed of your gear changes.

Guys this resets your throttle body sensor, not your transmission and I am 100% sure of this. I read it in another forum not sure where. But how I know it resets your throttle body is I reset my throttle body w/ my bt tool and cut my car on only to have my cars idle shooting up and down (glitch?). The ses light came on so I ran the codes on the bv tool, it told me throttle body something or another. So I remembered this procedure from before and did it and the car idled fine with no problems.

I love these suggestions. They seem so obvious and simple on their face and make for great one-liner solutions.
Too bad they're founded on the (usually incorrect) assumption that the person at company who answers the phone will know the correct answer or be able to put the caller in touch with someone who does know. Last edited by gpb; 10-19-2012 at 02:32 PM.. |

It does not reset anything. It only turns on the purge cycle for the water pump to cycle out air.
To reset the throttle body, the car needs to be running in order to rset it. This absolutely DOES NOT reset the tranny either. |

motor on
I tried it today... I heard nothing during the 30 seconds or so... (and the car was not running, only in electronics mode) but I can admit that the car now has a much quicker response to slight gas pedal inputs... strange sensation. Before I would push the pedal some and it would feel like it was fighting to change down and instead just bogg its way up... now, its going down with less pedal input. Which I prefer.
Otherwise when I'm in the mtns, I'm in DS mode - thats killer with down shifts when you let off the pedal... :-) for me no placebo Last edited by ibeaver; 11-20-2012 at 03:24 PM.. Reason: swiss german spelling mistake |
