Estimate rear brake work reasonable?

Failed inspection. Estimate from garage I usually take my Mountaineer to. Been dealing with'em for 30 years, but have never taken the BMW to them. E90 has about 70K miles on it. Without my being able to list who makes the parts, can you comment on price of the estimate?
Thank you,
Reed.

That looks about right. Curious what brand the pads and rotors are.

That's around half of the typical dealaer quote, per these boards. Since you have a helpful mechanic, you should go the next step and get suggestions as to specific brands of pads and rotors for him to get for you. The parts prices vary some, but not a great deal, but the performance and dusting can vary greatly.

Depending on brand they use it seems alright.

Thanks for the advice. Good idea. I will try to get familiar with some of the brands. Suggestions are welcome. I'm all for performance and less dust.

THANK YOU TO EVERYBODY for your replys....

I would say that is a fairly high price for parts. TMS offers $400 for all the parts for front and back, since you only need half its $200. http://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-22...e-package.aspx I would say, buy the package and give him the parts. It may be $50 more if you do it that way, but you have the parts for when you need the front done in the future.

Knowledgewise I can't hold a candle to those here so my advice would be worth what it costs. Happily, the car's been trouble free.

As for the no. of posts, I'll try to pick it up a little, but I expect you'll keep the lead.....

Reed.

For that price they should be installing factory BMW parts. If you're getting aftermarket parts, then it's a little high.

parts are about right, and the labor is not bad either.

if you aren't a diy guy, i would go ahead and get it done by whoever gave you that quote.

can you find out if those are OEM parts?

Do you always have to replace the sensor?

I would try and DIY. It really is not hard at all.
