Installing Meth Today! Install Question

I've had my meth kit sitting on my desk teasing me for the last few days and I'm finally getting time to get it in today! With the help of my friend (who has experience with meth) the install shouldn't be too bad.

Big thanks to Terry, Mike, and the Guys at Coolingmist for putting together a great kit. I ended up getting the CMGS controller, knowing if I didn't I would end up upgrading down the road.

The only question I have....

When setting up the failsafe, I'm a little confused as to where it ties into the JB3. Just wanted to clarify BEFORE we jump into this...

Thanks in Advance.

I think you need the JB3 version 2.0 to work with meth kit...2.0 allows for on the fly map changing..

Sent Terry an email...see what he says....

From what I was told when purchasing...1.4 will work fine with their kit w/o the map switching capabilities that comes with 2.0

Do you have the G2 board or G3 board?

I can help you with any of the coolingmist setup questions on the gauge. My JB3 is out for awhile until I get my car serviced, so until then I cant talk with experience on that, however terry has the details on the map switch tie in.

If you have V 1.06 on the CMGS you have the latest that will work with the new board on the JB. If you have 1.02,1.03,1.04 or 1.05 it will switch maps if you have the older JB that has the switch to let you swap maps.

if you have version "000" there is no failsafe ability on that CMGS. You can get the version number by powering the CMGS up, for the first 10 seconds you will get a code flashing in front.

Thanks for the purchase.

probably sounds like a Gen-2. Do you remember if it has one connector on the black box or one connector on each side?

on the controller install...where is the best place to put the CMGS controller. I've seen on the column but I do not have a pod...where can one be picked up. can it be clean this way? other options are by the rearview mirror...looking into ash tray area (not much room) and that's about it.... what do you guys think?

you can get a nice autometer pod at summit racing for about 17 or so. I have a 135 I so my mounting is different. There is a huge advantage cause the drivers side vent is flat on top, you can easily put the pod on there and secure it with a small cable tie that nobody will ever see.

When installing a meth kit, there is really no right or wrong way of doing it....Everyone has there own locations and spots to install the hardware, but it is nice to follow some of the ideas that people on this forum has shown....Thats the beauty of it, that you can pick and choose what you like and don't like about a certain location and make it suit your needs!

Did you make sure to avoid hotspots when running the wires beneath your car?

I am still shocked people do this. If you get any leak whatsoever, you will destroy the carpet and probably corrode though the metal floor board of the car.

+1...Running the fuel line inside the cabin IMO is a bad idea....I still feel uncomfortable running just one small 3 feet line from my tank to my pump thats on the outside in the driver bumper area, and I check that tank fitting on a regular basis to make sure of now leaks, I could just imagine if I ran it throughout my cabin area, I would bug out!
