How to add tweeters on Base Stereo system?

Hi! I have 1 question and I couldn't found any certain answer using search method.

If I am to add tweeter on base stereo system without tweeters how to and where to connect?

If I have 4 ohms tweeter and I connect in parallel to current midbass that would drop impedance even more and will affect HU?

I would of course add in line capacitor but this impedance how to solve?

Thanks!

Thanks very much! Did not found this thread before. So adding them in parallel should work fine with capacitor in line.

In the particular case of the base Stereo system, the front mids are already in parallel with the underseat woofers. There is supposed to be a cap somewhere in between if the radio is installed/no cap is the iDrive is installed.

Adding an OEM tweeters is as simple as plugging the tweeter to the mid -the mid bracket has the tweeter socket molded-in. The issue is now three speakers connected in parallel, separated by caps.

In theory the load "seen" by the radio/iDrive should be whatever the impedance of the driver is at its frequency band, as that's the purpose of the caps. See the two caps as a "poor's man" three-way crossover and then you will understand its function.

But in reality it could be possible that the radio/iDrive could not support this load configuration in the long term just because of its internal IC amp very low power output and finicky load tolerance.

My suggestion: try it and decide by yourself.

For the base stereo, the mid-range speaker in the doors are connected in parallel with the woofer under the seat. The mid-range speaker have a built-in capacitor to act as a cheap crossover (see picture). This kind of cheap crossover act a simple 6 dB/octave high pass at around 200 Hz.

I think it will not have a problem with the IC amp. I have $5 that says it sounds like ass, though.

Don't worry, it will not be a final setup..

Finally I would go with Audison BitTen, some Rainbows or Audio Development in front, Audio System 20cm under seat, Phase Aliante SI sub in trunk and 5 ch amp or 4 ch amp + monoblock.
But this setup will go in Jan, so I wanted some high freq in car until then.

Sound is lousy overall but most annoying for me is this lack of high freq.

If I add tweeters like I want in parallel with mid and add capacitor in series for xover, I could play with some small resistors in series also? Let's say I try 1 ohm, 2.2 ohm or similar to try att. the tweeter?
