That's one part of it.

Other part is that his local time setting is got getting registered.

It's a software issue. Android does not let you use location services unless the time is set through either the WIFI signal or GPS Signal.

GPS alone can take up to 12.5 Minutes to register, but with the help of WIFI you can reduce your locking time significantly.

Check to see if your wifi connection is correct, and if that does not work follow my Android Software Development Thread to install custom rom along with clocksync timezonefixer and etc.

FYI. I am trying this myself but someone needs to create a custom ROM where it disables the requirement for timezonesetting. So that we can run Android Offline Navigation Apps just like a WinCE version

Anybody using Sygic nav app? How do you control voice instruction volume? If I have media player running, i.e. Pandora, I can't raise volume of Sygic louder than media volume

Check my above post. And in the setting for Sygic you can make the Navigation Volume relative to your media volume setting, but it will not go HIGHER than your media volume. Only Lower.

I know what you are trying to do and maybe I am not understanding... but the android units get a GPS lock and time settings are updated via sats within a few seconds of booting if reception is good. Now if you have bad reception that is another story.....

With the dynaivn the time is set from the sats.

Nav antenna is fine. Located in front of dash below air vent by windshield. I don't know what's wrong, but this is driving me crazy. lock on takes 10 to 15 minutes or won't lock on at all...

did you pull it out from under the vent? I dont know about on the non L7 cars but on mine the grill is metal and could certainly scatter a signal.... If that isnt it then you need to contact your dealer because something isnt right with that unit.

Thanks, Jeff.. yes it is sitting under the vent still, and it IS on a metal grill. My installer said that the metal grill is an enhancement to the signal... is that possible that he can say the opposite of what you are saying?

Yes, well, the radio does not work so I think that I have all sorts of issues with this unit. The troubling thing is I rarely hear from Trent at CarAudioCraze.. I can only hope that he is actually going to do an exchange for me.

metal grill under the antenna will help, over it will block/scatter the signal in my experience. In my car I have to have the antenna on the top of the dash for a reliable, fast connection, under the dash top did not work reliably in my E92, it was hit and miss.

But if your radio isnt right you have other issues anyway, good luck with your exchange.

Yes, antenna is sitting on top of metel bracket, underneath plastic dash/air vent in the center of the dash, toward the front of the windshield.

not on the metal bracket under the dash, on top of the dash. I dont know how your dash vent is configured but mine has a center grill that is metal.....and would be directly above the location you are talking about.

Okay.. next question... I purchased Navigon app for the D99 from the unit via my home wireless... however, I can't download the 1.6gb map for USA because during the file download, my car electronics keeps shutting down automatically. Can I download the maps from the internet and put them on the SD card?

:45 minutes in the garage with the engine running, trying to download 1.6gb map file... I have no idea if the app is actually downloading, because the genius Garmin software engineers don't have a progress bar on the download page... so I'm burning petrol, not knowing if I'm even accomplishing anything.

1 hour of burning petrol and the download "seemed" to be complete.. liability screen popped up, which "seemed" to be a pre-curser to app startup... then.... an app error causing a force close. Tried re-opening several times.. tried shutting down D99 and re-opening Navigon.. same error, over and over.. so....I'm the beta destroyed.. don't buy Navigon

Tried uninstalling and reinstalling Navigon 3 times.. tried to start app, same error message....

You can download the map from your computer and load it onto the SD Card. Cannot provide you link to legality issues, but google would be a good friend

Is it possible to hack the WinCe OS and create a "desktop" similar to the home page of an Android unit? (yes, I know, why not just get the android then)

I used to have a cell phone that was WinCE based and it had apps and such similar to the Droid. It'd be cool to have a web browser but have the simplicity of the offline nav that WinCE provides.
