Experience With Supersprint Mufflers?
Hi all,
I have installed supersprint quad mufflers on my stock E92 N55. I don't intend to get the full system as I want to be street legal for now, so I only have the rear mufflers installed. Now my question is, will the mufflers get louder over time? I'm rather disappointed as after almost 2 weeks of usage, the volume is still very much close to stock mufflers. I used to have the fox exhausts mufflers and they were much louder and yet street legal. Some told me I will need to wait 4-6 weeks of daily driving before it gets loud. Any ideas? Please advise, Thanks in advance! |

Maybe you just need to start modding your car to make those exhaust work harder n louder haha.

This is just my .02, but you wasted your money on the Supersprint & should've gone with something else. IMHO Supersprint is overpriced & hasn't really cemented it's reputation in the BMW community (Supersprint's on a Ferrari are bomb.com).
From the sounds of it, you bought an axle-back Supersprint exhaust & the "Fox" exhaust you used to have was the Remus Race system (which is very very good sounding for the N55). It is possible that the Supersprint exhaust has a "break-in" period and needs some carbon build up before it sounds best, but more than likely you won't get the sound you were hoping for without the full exhaust system: Supersprint DPs, midpipe & rear section (which you have installed). |

might get louder after 500 miles but doubt it (break in period). Just mufflers really won't open it up until you add a down pipe. I just installed an Akrapovic Evo exhaust system on my N55 coupe and it is on the quiet side as well, but only have 60 miles on it. I will be added a down pipe and tune to open it up.

Personally I think BMW Performance is one of the best sounding that I have heard. I currently run Supersprint mufflers and x-pipe along with CAT deletes on my M5 and it is quiet. Supersprint is nice and quality product, but for sound not so much.

Absolutely LOVE my Dinan free flow exhaust with black tips. It looks sexy, and sounds incredible- I get all kinds of cars asking me what exhaust it is and how they love it.

Thanks for all your inputs....
I've gotten a reply from SS....they claimed that it will gradually get louder but will take a little longer than other brands. Reason is because they use high heat resistant fibre and has an additional layer of fibre glass....these will take a longer time to burn in....I hope this is true.... |

Guys, please excuse me if this sounds like a stupid question....is the mid/centre pipe of our cars a one piece setup joint to the front cat? Or is it just bolt on? I'm thinking of just changing the mid pipe but I am not keen on cutting anything on the original setup

I've gone the not too legal route....installed an AR catless downpipe....performance is just GREAT! Now, it has made my car a tad louder....
Here's the thing.....N55 comes with a cross pipe without a resonator. So, does this mean that it will not make a difference to the sound if i bought the supersprint midpipe? since the SuperSprint midpipe is almost similar to my stock N55 midpipes no? |

Hi blumango...are you the same guy on bmw-sg?
As I said, the N55 has a very drony engine so you free up the exhaust the result is not so good. I hope we'll be able to make a new centre pipe that will solve the problem without reducing the sound level. About the road legal mufflers, after 2000 miles the sound becomes pretty much definitive. To get the TUV approval the exhaust needs to be close to the stock ones, there's no escape from that... |
