Exclamation Brake Issues! Pads or Sensors?

Hi Everyone,

I was driving the car this morning and there was a brake icon displays on the dash board. Have anyone has this before? What could it be? Pads or Sensors?

Should I bring the car ASAP to the dealer or just make an appt with them? Thanks for the inputs. I'm appreciated.

SC.

Means the pads need to be replaced. Go through the service screen on the OBD and see if it's front or rear. My guess is rear. You've been doing heavy breaking to only get 14K out of them.

That's what happens when the sensor wears all the way down.

red means brakes.
yellow means drive off assist failure.
is your drive off assist working?

Flip through the OBD maintenance section and tell me what it says for miles left on your front and rear brakes.

OBD shows car front end = 50000
OBD shows car rear end = 36000

Early failure of sensors?

Maybe, but I don't see how the sensors can fail. They are just plastic with a piece of metal running through it with 3 wires going to the computer.

i dont believe that the front pads can last upto 50,000 on any car.... and definitely not a peformance car.

I just got new pads and rotors on mine... with around 35k miles.... and it says my next one is due after 90,000 miles... lol... I wish !!!!

Of course. Don't worry about bad brake pads. The indicator would be red for that. It's in the manual.

Check drive off assit by starting off on a hill (up).
Check it with the dealer - I see you have a service appointment set up.
Could be a drive off assist problem or just a failed sensor for that system.

What the manual doesn't tell you is that after it's red, it turns yellow. It's only red for so long.

Hi Everyone,

I start the car this morning and the brake YELLOW warning disappeared. Yeah
Hope it was just a software glitch?

This happend to mine a couple weeks ago, and it would go on/off etc.. for a couple days then stayed on. Dealer replaced szl control unit in steering column.

Same thing happened to me. Like StoneCold the yellow drive off assist light came on. Next day it went away. The whole time the drive off assist worked fine so I suspect the sensor as well.

I'm waiting for it to come back (or not) and stay on before bringing it in.
I find that it's difficult to get things fixed when they are intermittent.

Has same issue with Brake warning on the dash. It turns out the wire to the front brake pad sensor was rubbing against the tire and the tire wore through the wire. I picked up the sensor at the dealer and replaced it and cleared the fault using the Bavarian Technics software but the error kept returning immediately. I had to explicitly set the "Condition Based Service" item for the front brake life remaining. I set it to equal the rear brakes and then clear the fault and all was well
