I find it interesting that everyone seems to want a more luxurious interior, more features standard, etc. And yet, people always compains that paying $50k for a 3 series is ridiculous. We all want more but we don't want to pay for it. Come on poeple, you just can't have free lunch!
You got Better Luxury, Better Driving Dynamics and Low price. You can only have up to 2 of these but not all 3 at the same time. This is true on any brand of cars. |

you might think differently once you f-uck them up because they tried to move while incrusted in ice or snow.

I also really like the electronic shifter. I wouldn't mind having that in the next gen 3.

Some of the things written here really crack me up. Like this post for example:

I've never had my rear end slide out from hitting a pothole at 65 mph (and the roads here are bad, especially in winter). How big of a "pothole" is it anyway? And are you suggesting that this is a 3-series specific issue and that you would not be getting similar results if you hit the same pothole driving another car?

This begs the question: why are you asking for less weight? |

Sace for a full size spare!!!!
Even if BMW burdens everyoen with run-flat tires, please make a space under the trunk mat where you can put a spare tire, even a stupid mini-spare.
Having to choose between bad run-flat tires and flat-tire roulette (no spare) is hazardous. And while were at it, give me a dipstick so I can chek the level and colour of my own oil. |

Nice list from you all. It seems the 3 and the 1 have things in common we'd all like changed.
From the OP, I too want automatic wipers either more visible, or always on unless I turn them off. Or always off unless I turn them on. Not off every time I turn off the car. I don't have fog lights, so I can't say...my previous car had them, and honestly, I don't think they did anything for me except made me more visible in the front to oncoming traffic. My Wanted List for Next Gen No more HPFP issues. A better center console - that armrest rattles. I'm thinking something akin to how DC2 Integras are. Built in, no rattles. Lose about 300 lbs (that's pretty modest, I'd actually like more, but I think 300 is more than do-able).

Yes, I realize that weight impacts performance in the twisties . What I'm saying is that making a car that is both very light and very stable at high speeds (and has all the latest safety features on top of that) is a very expensive proposition. How much does LP-640 SV cost I forget? The E90 already strikes a pretty good balance between handling and high speed stability IMO.

The "once to unlock, once to open" is a German staple. The VWs have this. I like it.
If you want all the fancy toys, keep on going up the range. You'll keep diluting what makes a 3er the best car to own overall. Ventilated seats? More fans and electronics in the seats? All while wanting one of the safest cars on sale in the world to lose 300-500lbs. Seriously? I would like to see the run-flats disappear. The car is now the perfect size. The interior is fine for four, five in a pinch. NO BIGGER! I think weight loss is always good, so anything they can take out is great. I like leatherette- it looks good and lasts for years with minimal care as opposed to the leather. Keep that most wonderful Inline, non-turbo 6 cylinder. Great performance, smoothness, sound, and even 32mpg on the highways. Keep the steering firm with feedback. It's so easy to push and enjoy day to day. I can't ask for more from a car. A 3er sedan is all the car you'll ever need.
