Get a massive Breitling for your bling factor. The Breitling for Bentley are the worst watches I've seen.

Haha nah man, they're too big for me!

My mate has one that he picked up for really cheap with frequent flyer points. Not a big fan of the size!

Didn't think submariners appreciated in value since they are so popular

Going to the hour glass today

I disagree to some extent. I think it all comes down to how you present yourself or how others see you. the watches should go together with your clothes and attitude. people actually know if you're trying too hard to impress others.... just my 2c.

I agree, presentation and perception does have a lot to do with it, in addition to context. It's all related!

That being said I would be really uncomfortable wearing a uber luxury watch like those costing 28-30k plus even if was handed down to me until I personally achieved something really big or it would just scream out that I over extended myself or was blowing my inheritance off. Think ones less than 10k are a reasonable investment though provided they appreciate.

NB: Orey's rule would apply here, orey, what asset worth required to wear a 80K watch like this
http://www.amazon.com/IWC-IW504207-P...2275032&sr=1-7
guessing the multiples would be higher than his car calculation

This is what they say about the Subraminer, not sure about the appreciating value bit but surely looks like a good hand down..how much does a normal 20+ year old Submariner cost anyways, much appreciation?

No.6 The Rolex Submariner
The Rolex Submariner is considered by many to be the ultimate wristwatch, despite its genuinely sporty roots as a true tool watch. The Submariner also holds tremendous collectors value and is one that will likely retain its value even when your son is ready to pass it on to the next generation.
Was in this article on the "Top 10 Legacy watches" that was looking for and was in the link you had sent

http://www.askmen.com/top_10/enterta...atches_6.html#

EDIT: Was looking at how used Rolexes keep their value on this pre owned Rolex website page in the US (this dealer's a seller on Amazon), looks like they loose value quite a bit v/s what the advertising makes us believe (Do a mouseover on each watch's picture, the popup lists their original retail price)

I don't really care about what people think, i.e the real vs fake thing -- I sometimes tell people its a fake to shut them up I just hate being asked by random people who have no idea who you are. It devalues the watch IMO.

I bought it after hitting some personal milestone and they're great for reminding me of my personal achievements.

Not sure how well they appreciate to be honest. I'm happy to wait it out and pass it on if needed. The watch maker where I get it serviced every now and then said Submariners hold their value pretty well...not sure on exact numbers though.

Intresting exp at the Hour Glass.
Tried on a few watches. Highlight had to be the complete gold rolex submariner - $37,999!. You'd get rolled walking out of the shop lol

Cruvon - im just not sure about buying watches online, personal preference is to walk into a shop and make a purchase.

Yuck, can't stand your obsession with gold watches. I would also never buy a watch online. In person is definitely the way to do it.

I guess I would def try out the looks in a shop but if the cash diff was too much prefer a reputable online store or go thru" Amazon, the same vendor is there too.

If I was in your position now, I would prefer something like an IWC/Hublot over a Rolex.

Well, do agree that a bit of gold does look classy on a dress watch but can't really wear a gold watch for daily or frequent use without looking gangsta, plus I would fancy using a watch priced that high very frequently to make the best use of it.
