Burger Motorsports Oil Catch Can- the good and the bad...
Good news is the OCC seems to be earning its keep! Not sure what the yellow slurry is, but it smells noxious, and a little like oil. This is after 4 months of use.

I had an occ on my previous car and it contained some yellowish mix in there, it was said to be condensation/water/coolant mixing with the oil... Mine was never THAT yellow though.

I don't think the N55s have all that much of an oil blow-by issue. I've seen catch cans after 6 months and there is mostly yellowish coolant/oil/water mix. Very little oil compared to N54s.

Which leads me to my next question- anyone in the tri-state area familiar with putting these things on AND taking them off?
If so p.m. me please. CN you have a very good point. |

I think BMS has fitting instructions on their website so uninstall should be the reverse I suppose.
If I had an N54 I would absolutely get one of these. On N55 it seems a waste. |

I've owned four different e90s and each and every one has had a very minor coolant consumption issue. I'm talking like a quart of distilled water every 6 months to top it off. You are not realizing how small that catch can is or how little is actually in it in Dark Night's photo. Consumption at that rate is no cause for concern at all.

I’m curious to see if it’s flammable...can you light it on fire (in a safe manner obviously)

The gasket around the top of the oil catch can got a little goofy but apparently it's not that important according to Terry.
It's not really hurting anything so I'm thinking I'll just leave it around for another six months- see what it catches. |
