By most accounts, the S4 isn't actually a good bit of kit. Apparently a LOT of problems with them. However, it is one of the few controllers out there that has seperate mixer inputs, so the vinyl can still be played, and with timecode vinyl, you can still use the decks to control your mp3's. I did consider this route.
I also considered the Pioneer XDJ-Aero. Thought it was just a gimmick at first, but it is a nice piece of kit. Again, you can plug in your turntables, so can still play vinyl. And is wifi, so you can stream tunes to it over its own network. Overall a tidy piece of kit. And fully Rekordbox compliant, so another win there. And isn't actually a software controller. You can use it without a PC at all. However, the mixer section was a bit basic for me, and with no FX send/return, it wouldn't be expandable how I would have liked. My DB4 is also missing send/returns, but has 50+ fx onboard anyway, so happy days. |

I had an S4 and didn't like it, much preferred the Allen & Heath Xone: DX, even with Traktor.
DB4 is awesome, the effects have such a nice feel to them, sound wise I mean, amazing. This is looking pretty good. Will work with Serato and Traktor.... http://djworx.com/new-pioneer-ddj-sx...dj-controller/ |

http://offliberty.com/ I looked at the SSX also. To be honest, I just didn't fancy a controller myself. Too old school I guess, lol. |

I did have some decks over 10 years ago but to be honest, I was never that good at it. Recently I've been downloading the Graeme Park weekly podcast and it's brilliant, full of the old stuff and also a lot of recent tracks in there like some of the new Joey Negro/Sunburst Band stuff which I love

How do I upload tapes?
Last time I DJed was 89* at Henrys House in Bournemouth when house was something most people lived in and "Leftfield" was Luther Blisset If anyone ever finds a copy of Steve and the Space Cadet - Moon Landing from '91 please let me know. We sold 100 funny black plastic things but mine got used as an ashtray Think indeep vs enigma vs pacific 707 with added Hulkamania Liking your stuff Guy. Sorta reminds me of a Ben In The Mix release from way-back-when * dates may be distorted by old age, recreational herbs/chemicals and random traffic cones |

Did another couple of mixes with my new mixer over the last week. Thought I'd pop them up here see if I can get any feedback from you experts...
Most recent was a breaks mix, which can be found here: http://www.mixcloud.com/xs2man/xs2ma...09-09-12-2012/ And before that a tech house / progressive mix : http://www.mixcloud.com/xs2man/xs2ma...08-02-12-2012/ Any feedback most welcome. If you want to download them for playback wherever, I use this site: http://offliberty.com/ You simply copy and paste the link into the box, and hit the off button. This will download the stream as an mp3 so you can load it onto whatever device you like. This site should work for most sound sources as far as I know. Never tried it on youtube yet though. |

Then hit the off button under the box. Then it will tell you to right click and save as. Then it downloads the mp3 wherever you want it. Its pretty easy once you have done it the once.
Just downloaded a track of Soundcloud with it. So definitely works there. But only at 128 kbs, so probably not the best quality for playing out with. |

Working now, earlier it wasn't giving me a link.
Grabbing the breaks one, won't grab the other one as they are tunes I have been hammering over the last couple of years myself. |

Aye, fair enough. Aint bought much progressive stuff in the last while admittedly, so the other one linked was mostly off of Bedrock 14 and Dave Seaman's Renaissance from a while back. With a couple of purchases in between.
The one linked up before might be a little rarer on the track selection though. Got them tracks from a psychadelic trance website, but from their minimal section. So not really very popular, but still some epic tunes there. And a few casts back I did a proper psy-trance style mix. (Cast 004). Have a look here for some ace, free, bangers... http://www.ektoplazm.com/style/techno Last edited by xs2man; 12-09-2012 at 12:12 PM.. |

Decided to do a vinyl only, rarities mix last night. Love playing ACTUAL records, although I am a little rusty in places.
Feedback appreciated... http://www.mixcloud.com/xs2man/xs2ma...10-14-12-2012/ |

I have 3 1210s, a Vestax and the midi setup and always end up on the vinyl.
