I installed my Stage 1 upgrade this evening
Installation was easy with the printed instructions - took me roughly two hours. Removing the door panels was far less problematic than I was expecting - just follow the instructions, and get yourself a plastic trim removal tool.
Now, how does it sound, you ask? Well, there's just more sound there, which is the best way I can explain it. Much more substance in the midbass. And above all else, I can turn up the volume without distortion - no way could I do that with the stock speakers. Highly recommended... |

Does someone have a full review or a better in depth review with install pictures?
I had the BSW kit for the E46 and it wasn't as plug and play for what I thought it was going to be. I had to do some cutting and splicing for the front tweeters. The sub kit for the E46 was a pain since I didn't have rear folding seats. I'm hoping to see what the E90 kit will be like |

I can try to help some...
The midbass drivers are plug compatible with the existing wiring; they also use the same bolt pattern for mounting, so no cutting, tapping, etc. Tweeters are hardwired and plug connected to the midbass drivers, the same as they are in the standard system. You'll have to route the wires from the tweeters in the front, but it's simple and short. If it's install pictures you're looking for, the installation guide is available on the website, and that's pretty much how it went. The only difficulty I had was the removal of the connector plug for the window controls on the driver's side door. It's packed in there pretty tight. That wasn't explicitly covered in the installation guide, but the video may well cover it. Once installed, there's no way to tell visually that anything's been done with the car. It just sounds a whole lot better. Hell, even Sirius is listenable again. Since I've had the kit in only a day, I can't make more meaningful comment than that. As time goes on, I may comment more. I do notice a boost in the midbass, however, and I keep the tone controls flat. |

Just installed stage 1 upgrade on my e90 non L7
Easy install for someone who has audio installition experience. i could have done it with one arm and a hangover. For someone who has absolutly NO experience at all whatsoever I feel it would be pretty easy for them to install. Just follow the directions and take your time and go step by step. It really was a plug and play system. If you are afraid to take your door panels off don't be. it's an easy thing. As for the sound.... First of all there is much more midbass. Just what the car needed. I'm really suprised that the tiny speakers can produce the amount of midbass that they do. The sound is more complete, warmer tones, and you can defenitaly turn it all the way up without fear of distortion. The only thing lacking is some more deep bass, and perhaps more volume. I'm sure stage 2 (with the amp) will take care of the volume issue, but I think I'm going to go with the SWS-8's next to help the lack of low bass. And I might amp them too. I'm going to wait for BSW's stage 2 first though. Overall I'm impressed and happy. QUESTION: Halston, Will the stage 2 amp be plug and play with the old amp? Will it be able to amp the under seat subs aswell? and at what ohms? |

How many speakers included?
Hi,
Maybe a stupid question but... how many speakers are included in the Stage 1 kit? I have a E91 with european standard (without seperate tweeters) sound system and must therefore replace the door trim to mount the tweeters in the stock position. I understand that 2 x tweeters + 2 x midbass speakers are included as front units but what about rear? Are the subs underneath the seats included? Best regards R |

The stage 2 amp will be 100% plug and play. Just like the Stage 1 you just installed
The newest e46 stage 1 is the same exact 100% plug and play now. There was a time that we developed and changed and tested and upgraded multiple times a month. The final version is amazing and completely plug and play. With the e9x vehicles we did all this BEFORE release. Everything is stellar and plug and play! |

but a couple of questions. Will it amp the under seat subs? and at what ohms? If it will amp the under seat subs what will be the power going to them? Should be they then be upgraded ? Are you coming out with an upgrade to the underseat subs? if not will the stock amp still be supplying power to the under seat subs? will there be any cutting or splicing of any wires? |

Have you ever taken a close look at the OEM 4" drivers (other than the underseat OEM woofers) used in the Individual Audio system? Their construction, materials used, frequency response? They are either component or coaxial, and the front component system has a separate crossover module instead of a inline cap as the other OEM systems.
Personally, they do not need replacement, they need power. Because all and each of these OEM 4" drivers are also 4 ohms, adding aftermarket amps is easier as there is no constraint in wiring options (parallel connection) as the other OEM systems and their 2 ohms speakers. And once as plenty of power is fed to them they sound great, with nice, not harsh highs, well define voices and solid mid bass down to 150Hz. So you can actually keep these OEM 4" drivers, replace the underseat woofers with the SWS-8 and amplify all these speakers with some 1000W RMS: http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showthread.php?t=235880 I don't think that new drivers will make up my biggest dissappointment with the Individual Audio: muffled voices. |

Plug and play amp? As in replace the factory amp or plugs in after the factory amp and then amplifies it. Id love to see this.
