You won't see the ball drop, which is pretty dumb and touristy anyway, but 230 Fifth Avenue is a good spot.

I would avoid being anywhere near time's square. The crowd is enormous and you're pretty much trapped in there once you get in. Went there 2002 w/ some friends and it was literally like packed sardines.

prepare to pay lots of money for that...you will be spending for dinner alone about 300-400 or even more for a prime location, but if money is not an issue than any restaurant near where the ball drops would be nice because of where you guys are...I would take her to a nice restaurant besides the city and let her sit next to the T.V to watch the ball drop!!! Much cheaper

If you don't mind skipping the ball drop but getting a good view of the city for dinner, try Hoboken by the waterfront. Although it'll probably be packed there as well, but probably less so.

Try Ava Lounge. It's directly across from times square. It's on the penthouse level so you'll be high. There's a restaurant on ground level. It's in the hotel Dream. So you can do dinner ground level, then go up to the penthouse party and see it perfect.
