DAMAGED CARS ON "The Courage"

The Courage tipped today at the port in Jersey City causing major damage to over 300 BMWs not including 70+ BMWs that were total losses.

a majority of the destroyed vehicles were M3s (mostly in dark blue) with a variety of 3ers and 1ers smashed up as well. A small number of the cars destroyed had German Tourist plates on them, those European delivery customers will NOT be getting their cars back.

If you were expecting your M3 or e90/92 in the next month, you're going to be in for a sad surprise.

those cars that were a total loss will be crushed, I asked a BMW rep, he stated that they will not be auctioned as there is a liability for letting those cars on the road. The shipping company's insurance is footing the bill, I do not know how they will handle those cars that are already owned by the European Delivery customers.

Those cars with light damage will be repaired at the Elizabeth Receiving facility and sold through BMW's dealer network as new cars.

oh man i feel so bad for those on Euro delivery or waiting for their car to come.

I wonder if they sell the"lightly" damaged ones cheaper.....maybe 2K less or something, cause i guess i wouldnt want to pay full price for a "New" "lightly damaged" car

Shoot if my ED car were on the ship and was declared a total loss. I wouldn't be too upset. I'd get a brand new one instead with 3-miles and BMW would probably expedite the production through. The lease would probably get extended too. So it might actually be a win-win situation, if you could stand waiting another month or 2 longer.

Ahhhh, no.

Only 300 cars were damaged according to the story. Even if they were all $70,000 cars, that'd only be $21M.

anyone know of a way to track which car was a total loss, and which car had "light damanges"

Yeah, I know they can fix it at the port and sell it as new still, but it'd still be nice to know if the car was fixed afterwards here in the US

I am almost certain that BMW would rather not disclose if your ED car or about to be new car had "mild" damages...

Don't worry.....a good hand wax will fix everything (along with duct tape and WD-40)

You guys should get a grip. This is an economic loss. Nothing else. No cancer, no murder, not even any hurt feelings.
