http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...&postcount=654 Other than the manifold my car is bone stock and runs great with this setup. As noted in earlier posts the adjusters even open with the 325 stock ecu. At this point all in I'm still below $400.00. Finally someone found a flash for the last part of this swap. I'm hoping to hear that the price will be less than $950 to make this all worth while. |

You might have to remove that "shelf" that houses the cabin air filters. Other than that it looks pretty straight forward. Just use some silicone gel around the DISA valves and intake gaskets. When I got mine installed, the dealer did a full intake and valve cleaning as per BMW factory recomendations.
UPDATE: the tech from Powerchip will have his equipment ready a week or so from today. Powerchip says this new version of the software will produce more power since they have a tuner with over a decade of experience with BMWs.

doesn't all of this just mean that you'll be where all the 330 drivers are now? wanting the force-fed engine?

You still need the 3 stage intake manifold. I'm not sure of the differences in the 328. There are differences between early build 328s and later builds. That being said, anything cat-back won't affect software.

Force-fed? No thanks. High compression, magnesium block, and FI = metal scraps across the road. I just hit 128k mi on my car. This mod I'm doing now may be too much lol.

For me right about 250hp is the sweet spot. Until the E90 I was running 12psi of boost on a 180SX pushing about the same amount of power. If the E90 runs as quick as my 180SX stock I will be delighted. Being under 25 I haven't seen a break in my insurance yet... the 325i was my only real option in terms of overall affordability. Netting a 40hp gain on a N/A engine for less than $2K is nothing short of amazing. Well I guess to say gain would be wrong, but rather recuperate lost power. A 255HP daily driver that sips fuel, has all you creature comforts, and doesn't compromise on sportiness... This is almost the perfect car for me. The biggest downfall of this car was it's lack of power. A lot of people might still consider the 330's pretty slow, but for me it's just about enough to keep me satisfied. I will still complain about the interior which I think is worse than the E46's... the clutch throw and feel, and worst of all the cup holders... But as long as I'm smiling when my foot is down it's all good. Regarding the FI, I completely agree with Marcello. All of his points, and on top of that the ridiculous cost. With the 335's out, it almost makes no sense. |

it still needs a little work though.. he is at 328 levels right now, the 330 still dynos higher, significantly so in the the torque department. lets hope the new software makes a difference.

not exactly true, he's dynoing higher than I am with my tune. Though I'm getting more drivetrain loss because of AWD

ok, for comparison:
Andrew 328i 6MT dyno here is FrankiE90's dyno from last may - 328i 6MT (I think the 219 was a fluke) IvanX 330i 6MT on the same dyno 330i step |

ah yes ok... his 256/228 corrected numbers threw me off a bit. Cuz my corrected numbers are just a touch lower than his even with my tune.
So then would it be safe to say either his corrected numbers are a bit off or the 330's crank #'s from BMW are very conservative? Magmd's numbers look right with an 18% correction but IvanX's dynos at over 280hp at the crank when corrected. |

I just think the drive train is more efficient than the 18% loss factor he is using (maybe closer to 12%, but who knows). That and bmw seems to underrate their power figures a bit too.

Check out the fuel/air ratios for all the cars. I'm running MUCH leaner. The 330 runs much richer than the stock 325. Mine is developing more power than stock but at almost the same fuel/air ratio. I wonder if the new software will increase the fuel mixture a bit.

also, I just found out in another post that the IvanX 6MT 330i dyno I posted had a groupe-M intake + muffler delete, and Frankie's 328 had a muffler delete also.

I highly doubt the delete adds anything though... maybe the gruppe-M. Hell I hope it would for $1000

I can't seem to find the link but I found another bone stock 330i that managed about 225hp and 200ft-lbs of tourque. I'm still short on power but I think a little tweeking and maybe some moding might do the trick.
