Mod Recommendation for an '11 E92 N55
I was just wondering what you guys would recommend for a 2011 E92 335i xDrive N55 ... I want to get an intake, not sure which one to go with, aFe or Injen ... can you guys recommend which one is "better" haven't heard either one in real life, so a bit hard for me to decide. Also I got a JB Stage 1 and want to have it installed. I know that I would need a ChargePipe in order to run it at full boost, but are there any good CPs for about $150 / $200 for the N55. My total budget for this is not that high, already have a Stage 1, so I am left with about $500 to play with pretty much, so I would like to get a CP and Intake.
If anyone has a used CP or Intake for sale, please let me know as well |

Downpipes are a great mod when paired with a tune!

LOL yea i know i dont need anything lol, but still....I do want powaaaaa haha but i need it at a decent price lol DPs are expensive, CPs if i can find out for about $150, ill buy one. 15 psi is low or high? not too familiar with performance parts lol but I know if I run at a high boost, i would need to replace the CP, but since this is a lease, dont really wanna f*ck with anything major and have to replace everything afterwards lol

Still not "in real life" but you can listen to the different youtube recordings of the intakes here http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=591790.
I can actually relate with you because the very first mod i did for my '11 335i xDrive was the AFE Stage 2 intake. I went with that just because the design seemed better. And the chances of heat soak... ALOT less. I could not feel any butt hp gains, but i could feel the car being a lot more responsive. The woosh noise made the car unique from other N555 335s out there. If you were to ask if i regret the intake, i definitely do not, i love the sound it makes, even more so after i went for the BMS JB4 stage 2 tune, which closes the wastegate more, causing the intake to be louder. HOWEVER, if money is an issue, i think the intake can wait till you have some disposable income, the real gains are felt with the BMS JB4 stage 2 tune. I know there are other tunes out there for the N55, and although i have not had a first hand experience with them, i can tell you that Terry (BMS Tuner) is a great chap to deal with. So you should never have to worry about aftersales support (many other members can support this). Following the tune, go for a set of catless DPs, many here say that they all have about the same gains, but i went with AR Design, and i couldn't be happier. The workmanship on those DPs are really amazing! All these mods should put you under the 13s mark for a quarter-mile drag race, which is basically a stock E9X M3 territory. You might need an aftermarket charge pipe with all these mods to run high boost <15PSI, and that should set you back another $300+ USD depending on whether your planning on getting a meth kit later on. Let me know if you have any other questions. |

I've also noticed that exhaust aren't the same for n55... What are useful mods for n55? What changed so much?

I've been advised in a different thread, that if I will be running the Stage 1 at a high boost, I would need a CP change. And no, I will not be running any meth, at least not any time soon lol

a chargepipe and ic are not comparable in price tho lol. Dont buy a charge pipe until you break the stocker would be my advice. or buy a fmic that comes with one. Thats what i did. cxracing ftw

If I were in your shoes with the budget, I would do Catless Down Pipe and mid cat delete. You may not feel it's necessary to put aftermarket exhaust after freeing the beast It will make a huge difference

Yeah, they have to cut them out so probably not best for a lease.
