tire storage

i live in a condo so i need a place to store tires. someone suggested that the dealers do it so i called and checked. they charge $200/season (yes $400 a year) to store tires.

some alternatives were listed in the toronto star:

Kipling Tire (located at 837 Kipling) offers a service where they store your tires, and do the switch from summers to winters, then back to summers again (i.e. two tire changes a year plus storage).. I belive the price was 160 + tax.. I was referred to them by BMW Toronto and they seem pretty good. Speak to Justin, who is one of the owners.

Anyone know of places in the east end (scarborough, Pickering, Ajax) that does the tire storage / swap thing? Kipling Tire was great, but its too far for me now and I want a new place.

(And dont tell me to do the swap myself, save money, and store the tires at home - Im lazy and inept so its not an option.)

I'm considering the Tire Butler. It's a service that comes to you and does the change over and then takes your offseason wheels to storage. It's a little more pricey than some of the other storage options from what I've gathered so far, but seems a lot more convenient.

Canadian Tire @ Main and Danforth in the east end stores mine for around $50 per season. They mount them for around $20.

Wow, I didn't own a condo the last time I posted in this thread. I keep my tires in condo storage and have recently bought a new torque wrench. I plan on changing them in the condo garage, whether against the rules or not (the condo rules say you can't do repair work on the car, but I don't think swapping tires would actually bug anyone).

Don't you have a storage in your condo? Wow this was from a year ago! lol

I am planning to buy a new condo very soon hopefully it will have enough storage. I can't even see it since the building hasn't been built yet :/

Yeah that's what they quoted me as well. I'm still considering them though since I can avoid having to go to a tire shop each time I need a changeover (yes I'm lazy like that )

Canadian Tire at Leslie and Sheppard (the one next to the Ikea) does offer winter tire storage from what I remember... don't know the price.
